Yep, the only issue will be menus and options being in Japanese. Not that playing default is a problem and I bet there's a guide somewhere on the net. I have all 3 SFami carts and they play fine on a SNES.

Anyone have recommendations for Japan/Europe-only games with english (or very little non-english) text?
Sega Genesis (Model 2), Sega CD, Sega 32X, SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Game Boy Family, Phillips CD-i Model 910, NES, Atari 5200, Virtual Boy, Atari Jaguar, Playstations 3-4

Mario & Wario

you need the SNES mouse, but it's a fun puzzler that never came out in the US. All the text is english iirc.

Mega Man & Bass (aka Rockman & Forte) is a kind of obvious pick.
I found it to be too hard for my taste, but I know some people really love it.

I agree with mega man and bass being super hard, that was released on the GBA at one point also here in the US

Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie is a great shooter for the SFC.

Do Re Mi Fantasy is a really fun platformer that is perfectly playable without knowing Japanese.
