^nice on FFA! I've always loved that game, and I think it's actually better than Sword of Mana personally.

-------

I finally beat Olrox in SOTN. It took some extra exploring and leveling up to do so. Then I put another 2 hours or so into it tonight. I'm actually really really enjoying this one. :D

I decided to skip the inverted castle at the end and just killed Richter. I figured that since I still have 9 games on this list to get through... Though I did save my game right before that battle so I can always come back to it if I have time after beating the others.

I actually really enjoyed SOTN. As I said earlier, I did use maps and check the bullet points of a walkthrough to see which items I should be looking for or which bosses are where, etc. So admittedly this made the game more linear for me (which I liked) but now that I'm familiar with the castle I feel like I could come back to it and explore some other time. And I liked the game enough that I can see myself doing so.

Consider this a Summer Gaming victory!

the handwritten note is a key motivator. I keep it on the end-table right next to my gaming setup. That way I see it all the time when I sit down to play games (or lurk here). The main thing is that when you actually complete a game, it feels awesome to physically cross it off the list.

EDIT: Yes, X-Men arcade... either XBLA or PSN.

Current List:

Ducktales (NES)
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (SNES)
Star Wars: Rogue Leader (N64)
Resident Evil 4 (GC) - Castle area, stage 3-3
Metroid Prime 3 (Wii)
Monster World IV (VC)
Panzer Dragoon Orta (Xbox)
Grim Fandango (PC) - Petrified Forest
Final Fantasy IV Advance (GBA)
Zelda: Oracle of Seasons & Oracle of Ages Linked game (GBC)

Been getting stuck into more Resident Evil 4 and Grim Fandango, although progress has been a bit slow on both as I've been really busy and Command & Conquer used most of my available gaming time.

In Resi, I've just gotten through a maze in the garden and encountered what I assume is a familiar face to series veterans, but who I didn't recognise at all. I'm now off to save Ashley who fell into a trap in the castle. The last chapter bought about some invisible bug enemies who were really stressful to fight as they tended to jump on you as you finished the other ones off. I find that although this game isn't actually very scary, it does stress me out a lot so I have to play in short bursts or I get really irritable - hardly my usual gaming experience

Grim Fandango I am enjoying, although I'm finding the puzzles to be a tad difficult. This is my first more 'old-school' adventure game besides Deja Vu though, with most of my experience coming from Telltales more user friendly recent games. At the minute I'm in the petrified forest looking for a key to let my friend Glottis drive his souped up car over a bridge of bones guarded by firey demon beavers - it sure is full of interesting scenarios at least!

Nice! I've decided that I'm not going to play any other games until these summer challenge ones are completed. I think I might have been too ambitious adding an 11th game and so many RPGs, but I'll try to get it done.

The X-Men arcade rules. I MAME that shit at least once a year and make a point to play the real thing at least once or twice every summer too. When I was a kid the local movie theater had a six-player version... amazing.

Cool. So do you intend to limit your credit use or anything? I'm just curious, because its easy to special attack your way through the game in about 20 minutes.

By the way, if you happen to get it on xbla, I'm available for some sentinel smashing.
