So clearly you aren't talking about impressive artwork but the advancements in technology.ZeroAX wrote:This thread is NOT ABOUT stylized graphics (ala Mario Galaxy, TF2) looking better than the most realistic graphics out there.
What this thread is about, is how much the latest graphics can keep on impressing?
I mean, are you really impressed by the newest best graphics in games anymore? Sometimes when I see a huge draw distance like Just Cause 2 I think "woow", but that is it. I see people complain about games with "average" graphics, but to me all of them are like that.
If you are asking wether anyone here is impressed with advancements in graphics then it seems to me a number of people have replied appropriately - the case with most here will undoubtedly be 'I'm impressed by artistic design but not particularly by advanced graphics'
I guess more specifically what you are wondering is 'do you really think graphics can improve anymore at this point?'
To which I say nay, I don't believe so - technically there's plenty of room for advancement, but I don't believe that alone will do much for the visual presentation. Like I said, for me really high resolution textures and draw distance don't make a huge difference - there are limits, of course, when the textures are too low resolution and the draw distance is ridiculously short that will negatively affect the presentation, but consoles have advanced to the point where this is a very minor issue (what people would call ugly low resolution textures these days is often perfectly acceptable to me).
