Then I walked right on through the base leaving a trail of destruction in my wake. Not many things stop 18 tanks.
That's what I had to do, except I had only about 10 of them.

Completed missions 13 & 14, and now I'm at the very last one. Looks like there's a lot to be concerned with here, so hopefully can get through it quickly.

I actually used some real strategy rather than 'tanks tank tanks tanks tanks' for mission 12, although it did involve several tanks. I built 5 engineers, sold off unnecessary buildings (barracks, comm centre), found the secret crate with $2000 in it, then built as many tanks as i could afford (4) and sold off my factory to have funds for fixing things. My 4 regular tanks i built went on some missions to destroy any SAM sites i found before coming back to be fixed if necessary, whilst my mammoth tank guarded my north base entrance and the rocket and tank i started with guarded the east. After that I sent 4 tanks, my mammoth tank and my rockets up to the area north of their base, shot through their wall and took out an advanced power plant. Whilst they dealt with the aftermath, I nipped in wuth an APC and stole the contruction site, airbase, hand of nod, another power plant and a silo easily. From there my vehicles took out all of theirs (but unfortunately copped it themselves) and my hand of nod pumped out some more engineers who stole the other silos and refinery, leaving me with loads of cash to clear up with.

Overall mission 12 was pretty easy, despite no source of income. Now for mission 13!

I remember the first time I beat mission 12 I had poorly managed my resources and was left with a hoard of minigunners from selling my remaining buildings. I swarmed the Nod base and managed to take down the obelisk and the SAM sites before I ran out of units.

Mission 15 complete, GDI side finished!

Took me nearly all afternoon after about 4-5 attempts (as shown in the time corner), and that was with occasional speed ups used! Those death numbers are very accurate indeed, you'll be encountering a *lot* of resistance.

My best advice -- stick with the eastern or western path when choosing, I did the eastern approach, and be ready for lots of action and thinking and making sure every last Nod unit and structure is wiped out. I don't want to spoil anything, but if you need help, I'll be on hand to answer questions. I wasn't quite prepared at first, but once you know everything on the map, it's no problem.

Going to take a couple days off and then attempt Nod's side. That should be a trip without all the cool GDI toys

There's a few Nod missions that involve stealing the GDI toys. But now you get to play with the Obelisk.

I just finished mission 13, which was a bit of a joke compared to several of the earlier missions. I established a base easily thanks to the force i started with (1 mammoth, 2 rockets, 2 tanks) easily repelling NOD troops. I set up between 3 ore patches, so my two harvesters worked quickly and efficiently. Once I got a few basic buildings set up, I whacked up 4 advanced defence towers and never looked back. I moved two mammoth tanks into the enemys first base, ran over all the flamethrower guy in there and bought in my engineers to capture the hand of nod (that bases only real defence) plus the refinery and some silos. After that I just sent the odd scout out until i found the building on a hill and sent in the choppers for a quick finish. Possibly the easiest mission in the game this side of mission 3.

I have a feeling the last two may not be so forgiving.

Mission 14 is pretty easy too. But 15 will really make you work. I've actually never destroyed the full Nod bases in 13; instead I used Orca scouting to reveal a corner of the lab and then sent a squadron to take it out since there's no SAM defenses, and the mission only requires destruction of the lab.

I completed mission 13 by building the Advanced Communications center and as soon as I was able to see the bio-plant, sent the Ion Cannon to level it.

But if there were no air defenses I would have liked to use the Orcas again

Orcas in sufficient numbers do not fear the air defenses of the computer. I usually build 6+ helipads if I'm going to use Orcas and I target the SAM sites first. The nice thing is the computer never builds packs of SAM sites like a human player would; they're always singletons in corners.

I attempted mission 15 tonight, and then a series of unfortunate events caused it to fall apart around my ears after quite a lot of set up. A combination of lag making it hard to use the ion cannon (i'm on the ps1 port ), my APC getting caught up in a firefight despite me telling it to go to the enemies base and both of my harvesters deciding to stop harvesting unless i told them where to go EVERY SINGLE TIME they unloaded made for a calamitous attempt at seizing their first base, and made me call it quits for tonight.

As an FYI, the last mission for each side has three different maps, one for each of the three arrows pointing to the final area. The maps each have a noticeably different difficulty, so you might be on the hardest one.
