Actually, Sega pushed the story relatively heavily for the first NiGHTS as part of their marketing for the game. I know for a fact that a bunch of NiGHTS comics were made to emphasize this.
Also, I agree with Pichu; I loved JoD, and thought it was a fine entry into the series.

A new entry would be an automatic Day 1 Purchase though.
I'm sure you would find other games in the Saturns library that you would enjoy. Also, nice to hear people saying good things about Journey of Dreams as I got sick of people moaning about it. Its a cool game.
Yeah I probably would. I'm a firm believer that every system has at least a handful of good games to play. And I'm just not informed of the Saturn's library, besides the famously rare/excellent stuff.
And about JoD hating...it always makes me sad to hear it, since I do all the time when NiGHTS is brought up. I feel like Will and Helen make a fine story for the type of game it is.

I know. The important part is that the story was presented mainly in the comic books and game manual, not after every stage via cutscene
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

I like Nights on the Wii better then the PS2 import which includes the Saturn Graphic version.
1. Not stuck walking around when knocked out of the sky, Journey keeps you flying.
2. Forget the Wii Motion Controls or the segmented stops of a Wii Classic Controller, play with a PS2 controller smooth analog stick with a Classic Control adapter.
Nights 3 should stick with the Journey formula, get a smooth rotating Analog Stick option and definitely not use the older Saturn stuck walking aimlessly on the ground to find the "Bird Cage". A shame many have not discovered the PS2 smooth rotate the analog stick option with a Classic Controller adapter.
What I want is a story later in Claris and Elliot's lives that brings them back together in Twin Seeds. This would be a touching reunion and continue the original theme and storyline. Keep the gameplay very similar to Nights Into Dreams. I loved the loop attack scoring system it made the game for me.
Graphics would be Pixar quality surrealism of the highest quality. Part of what made the original nights cool was the idea it was the best possible realtime simukation of dreams in a game. The worlds were trippy! I'd like to feel that way again.
Pichu wrote:That suggestion about the smooth analog stick now makes me want a NiGHTS game on Wii U (analog stick has no ridges) or the 3DS (self-explanatory).
If they ever ported the original nights or made a sequel on 3ds I would buy a system just for that. I could also see them adding some pretty cool 3d effects to make the levels "Pop out" more.
I've been playing the original again this week, after this thread got me thinking about it. I think this is the game that I have put more hours into than anything else. I've played and played and played this game and it never gets old.
I still hate the Jackal though, you know that freaking rabbit with the playing cards. Always seems a bit too random to be able to guarantee a good time.
