I have a DOA4 Hori stick on the way. Besides that I'd like to hunt down the rest of the US 360 releases -- making sure I get the LE's where applicable, since I'm a big fan of shmup soundtracks. And of course I plan to research which imports will play on a US 360. I'm also pretty excited that Radiant Silvergun is on XBLA so that I can participate at the shmup-of-the-month thread on it next month.

If/when you pick up Raiden IV, look for the GS exclusive version w/soundtrack.

That was a GS exclusive? The copy I bought at Best Buy had the soundtrack with it.

Now that I think about it though, it may have been used.

Imports that will play on your system:

Muchi Muchi Pork/Pink Sweets
Mushihimesama Futari
Espgaluda II (The LE will NOT work, any other release will)
Dodonpachi Ressurection (PAL copy will work on your system)
Eschatos
Bullet Soul

Those are all the ones I can think of.

Shit, you made me realize I now have no way to play Radiant Silvergun.

I may be wrong here, but I'm certain that the Raiden 4 W/soundtrack wasn't a GS exclusive. I recall seeing this release available at Best Buy.

@Noise: I actually have a DOA4 stick too. Its nice, but I've seriously been contemplating on selling it. If you needed an arcade stick I would have recommended a QanBa RAF4! Best stick money can buy right now :D

The best shmup collection is one you regularly play and will get your money out of, so always consider that while collecting this particularly expensive genre of games.

so over the weekend I decided I'd start looking into emulating older disc-based systems on my PC. I don't have room for new consoles, but figured this would be a way to ease me into some other shmup libraries.

Wouldn't you know it I stumbled upon In The Hunt today!

CIB for $15. The case is in great condition and it even has that sponge thing inside to keep the disc safe. :D
Want to get that game for PS1, love the Arcade version, very unique and original shmup.

I'm planning to get rid of In The Hunt actually. I'm not into it. I'm not a fan of non-scrolling shooters.
