Batman (1989) - This movie is STILL fan-freaking-tastic. One of the coolest on-screen Batman stories ever told. The visuals are fantastic, the soundtrack is amazing, great gritty "Batman" feel to it, the acting is spot-on, and Jack Nicholson stole the movie as The Joker. I'm gonna watch Batman Returns today as an encore!
So I rewatched
Batman Returns, and now it's all these years later and I'm an adult and I'm STILL not impressed by it. It does have cool looking visuals, a good soundtrack, and good actors. But the story and characters I just can't get into. Penguin and Catwoman come off as weak villains to me. It seems like Batman should have been able to wipe the floor with both of them the first time he met them and be done with it. And The Penguin is just gross in this movie. Also, there wasn't enough about Batman/Bruce Wayne himself in the movie. The first Batman (1989) easily blows it away. But it would be hard to follow up such a masterpiece.

I REALLY like Batman Begins, too. I really can't choose one over the other. And like Luke said, they're very different. The Dark Knight was fan-freaking-tastic as well, but I think I'm one of the few that actually enjoyed Batman Begins and Batman (1989) more than The Dark Knight.
