Totally forgot about Megadeth. Not much for the others though.
Rust in Peace and Youthanasia are by far my favorite albums. I even went and saw Megadeth a few years ago.
Older. Not wiser.

That's a perfectly defensible position as well. I really like MOP, but most of the rest of the 80s stuff by them isn't stuff I care for (even if I can appreciate its importance/significance/influence/appeal). I mark the Black Album as the beginning of the end, though I did like their late 90s cover of "Turn the Page."BoneSnapDeez wrote:I don't even like old Metallica.

Surely we can all agree that Beatallica is awesome though.

Any love for Death Magnetic? 'All Nightmare Long' feels like old Metallica. Thanks Rick Rubin!

Life only continues to get more difficult, provide more challenges, and makes you contemplate the decisions you've made that has led to the life you lead. The truth is everyone can usually look back five years and say "it was so much easier then". Everyday can be the best day of your life if you make it... Unless your dog dies, then that day is going to be fucking awful.
I hear a lot of "I can't connect with people my age" on this board, despite the fact they're actually connecting with people their own age. I'm not singling any one out, but enough with this. This is always said by the same kids who won't even try to talk to any of their peers, and are just as guilty of prejudging people the same way jocks may prejudge emo kids (do emo kids still exist?). The "I'm more mature/smart" argument is bullshit. If you were smart enough you'd be in a gifted school with kids with the same intelligence.
Never forget how good you have it. Never forget that perception is reality, and you create your own perception. That, and if you can't live happily by yourself, you'll never be happy unless you make an effort to change.
And if you get one dimensional on missing the past, or can't stop thinking about being depressed, ask yourself this: "What did God do before he created his own existence?". That shit will confuse you for hours upon end.

It sucks growing older and feeling like life hasn't been what you hoped it would be on your best days but it is best to be positive, thankful, and spend more time those positive people actually getting somewhere in your life. That kind of attitude and environment will lead you in the right direction towards happiness no matter how things may be. And this comes from someone who should be a friendless, cynical, angry, drugie, alcoholic, single, poor person if he had let his environment and family dictate how his life went.... But is none of those things today at only age 27.

For sure. I did say that the only Metallica I personally think is bad is St. Anger.hashiriya1 wrote:Any love for Death Magnetic? 'All Nightmare Long' feels like old Metallica. Thanks Rick Rubin!
Yeah, that song is great. That whole album was good. A 2-CD set full of fantastic covers. Their cover of Sabra Cadabra (originally Black Sabbath), Am I Evil (originally Diamondhead), and Whiskey In The Jar (originally Thin Lizzy) are also great.dsheinem wrote:That's a perfectly defensible position as well. Re: I think I've Become an Old Man.
I fear this day as well.
My oldest daughter has started dating and I hate it!
Wont be long before my other girls do the same.
I must find a way to not be angry.
While I still feel young I will find way to keep all bad things away.
I must keep myself active. I must not become an old man.
I dont want to turn into Dr. Nefario!
I heard that

Re: I think I've Become an Old Man.
Being able to be with the woman I love and realising that I don't need her to look conventionally-ascribed-attractive and still finding her as hot as f*ck made me happier dealing with my old age (now 43). A friend of mine recently broke up with his long-term girlfriend who was 20 years younger and, not judging anyone in age-gap relationships, I feel he has been happier once he got over it - I for one can't imagine the pressure (I might put on myself) to seem immortal. Honestly, if you're lucky enough to find and be with a life partner, it all makes a lot more sense. I'm sure some of the younger among you would agree.

Re: I think I've Become an Old Man.
Feeling "old" just means you are in a transition into a new perspective on your existence. That's life man. None of us made all the right decisions in our past, nor do we make them today. That's why nostalgia is a trap. Things were never as great as halcyon hindsight paints them to be. The only person in your life that truly cares if you are happy and fulfilled is you. And the only person who can make your life that way is you. Unless you become paralyzed, your life is your own fault as an adult. If you don't like the way things are going, change them. One tiny step at a time will work.
