I think I've Become an Old Man.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I get and like these Marx Bros. references. Does that mean I'm an old man too?

The day Duck Soup comes out on Bluray I will take off work. I have a Groucho bust I have had for over twenty years and a recently got a neat painting of Groucho and Lydia, as seen (on the far left) below:

The big painting in the middle is for my girlfriend, she is a horse person...

Wow didnt expect this much response, or Marx Bros references. Nice.

I guess the thing i have learned over the years is that you never really appreciate things until that time as has passed. You have to have distance to really appreciate something, but then its tempered with the knowledge that you won't get that experience again.

Now im not so jaded as to think i wont have good or better times in the future, but i guess any time you let yourself think back its easy to feel a bit morose.

I'm 17 years old so I guess I'm still a punk kid here.

I'm living with future shock. One more year of high school and four years of college after that but I want to be out in the world. I've finally decided what I want to do with my life and since I was a little kid I've always wanted to get married, but it all has to wait. I live in a small town and I don't know what to do with myself here, but I know there must be a better way to spend my time than practice karate and play Final Fantasy Tactics again. I definitely regret spending too much time gaming. Games are great obviously, but I could have done something more important.

I'm not going to go and say no one understands or I'm way smarter than all of my peers. I do know that the way I think is different than my friends and that can be frustrating. I often feel weary but I'm no old man. All I've got to say about that is that old people rock.

I definitely don't want to forget my mindset when I'm older. I feel like all my naivete and longing might be good for something in this crazy world. Being a teenager ain't so bad. Guess I better figure out how to spend my summer really soon!

I feel you, my friend. I'm turning 29 in about 2 weeks. And I feel out of sync with the next-generation, especially the last couple of years. The stuff that I thought was cool in the 90s, is now being poked fun at.

I though people think the 90s are cool. Retro seems to be more popular and mainstream than ever.

Or are you referring to crappy 90s action cartoons like Power Rangers? Because that was always lame.

I'm the only twenty-something permanent employee in the public library where I work (everyone one else is 40+), and it makes for some interesting age-based scenarios. On the one hand, co-workers will discuss their children with me as they might with a peer in their own generation, despite the fact that I am, almost without exception, exactly their kids' age. A year ago I had a co-worker say to me about her son, "Those 26-year-olds! It's mind-boggling what they get up to on the internet," and I responded, "Oh, I know! I'm only 25, so I don't understand it either."

On the other hand, I'll have older folks stereotype me as they would a teenager, meaning they're convinced I'm plugged into all the latest tech trends and completely apathetic toward everything else, past or present. I've had a few patrons assume I'd never used a card catalog in my life, with one woman in particular doubting I'd even know what one was, period. I also once had an older man ask where we kept our Blu-Rays, and when I additionally pointed out the DVDs along the way a matter of course, he guffawed, "DVDs? Who even uses that stuff anymore?!" I couldn't help but mention that we also have a small VHS collection that still gets reasonable circulation, and that I myself still have a VCR at home. :P
