When you say "flash" do you mean they just blink on and off the screen? Or are they appearing white/garbled? If it's the former, I'd wager it's just normal flicker and your memory might not be exact. It's hard to tell just based on your written description.
Assuming you're playing the American games on an American TV/setup, have you tried using an American NES? Does it still happen?
But I doubt it's anything to really be concerned about. The NES is hardly a graphical powerhouse anyway.
