I'm fairly sure Sony will back Trank financially.

Kind of scary, but you never know; this could turn out well (if Trank isn't directing).
granted, the whole idea of him doing sotc movie is pretty silly, but why do you hate josh trank so much? i've seen far worse directorial debuts than chronicle.
Oh, come on, don't leave your uncle T-Bag hangin'!

why do they pick the most unlikely games to turn into movies? There are so many other games that would make a nice transition to film. Nothing has topped silent hill yet, which was actually true to the game. This is off subject but anyone seen the forbidden siren movie?

Just remembered, how dare they make a Shadow of the Colossus movie, but the Halo movie is still not released.

Games that should be made into movies:
Halo
Uncharted
God of War
Fallout (1, 2, 3, or New Vegas)

Silent Hill 1 (PROPERLY)
Silent Hill 2
Half Life 2 and Portal 1 sound intresting but might be a tad bit hard to do
System Shock 2
Resident evil 1 or 2 (PROPERLY)
Jak and Daxter (animated)
Planescape: Torment
Final Fantasy 7
Amnesia the dark descent
Monkey Island trilogy
Deus Ex
Warcraft 3 human campaign
Abe's odyssey (animated)
Heart of Darkness (animated)
Those are just the tip of the iceberg :)

I actually dont think that Fallout out would make a nice movie. Way too unlinear and big games.

But 3D is PD and video games are interactive so even with good director and actors many video game movies would still feel awkward/bad I guess. Some first person 3D video game movies could be awesome though (Silent Hill, Doom etc).
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Well, even then... That whole sub-plot with Shrek and the woman was entirely superfluous.

I disagree that any game needs to be made into a movie, even "properly". Except Severence. Severence kicks ass in every format.

Are you saying that cgi is shitty in general? Or are you assuming that the cgi will be shitty just to back up your point of claiming the movie will very likely suck?

It does have a story.

Clash of the Titans is a remake of Clash of the Titans, which was a movie about titans clashing. People were familiar with the story, and wanted to see titans clash.

Not all cgi is shitty (most is), but the colossi would have to be cgi'd.

I never claimed the movie would suck, nor am I backing up anything. Just saying that movies that are all cgi leave a lot to be desired, and Trank isn't my favorite director.

The story is paper thin. This isn't the retelling of the Neverending Story or anything, the game is six hours of action and five minutes of story. I have no idea what premise this story would be written on.

But then again, look what Hollywood can do with paper thin stories; Lord of the Rings turned out pretty good.

What I'm saying is that the "5 minutes of story" that I talked about in my two previous posts can be elaborated on, and quite easily I would think.

I wouldn't call the Shrek scene a subplot. I think it was just to show him relating to people, specifically kids, since he had lost his. The woman and kid showing up was sort of a downer. I felt that the movie fell apart after that. It seemed like it was just a convenient way to end the movie with a feeling of hope, while being able to kill smith and make you feel bad.
