You really haven't been playing games that long have you? "WW2 console shooter times"? You mean the mid 2000's? When Doom and Quake had one new release each? Also Quake and Duke Nukem were great on the Saturn, Doom had quality ports on the PlayStation and Nintendo 64, and Quake 3 was fantastic on the Dreamcast. You seem to be very confused.

Let's not discriminate based on age...I think you just meant to confirm he wasn't playing games long, but I've seen others on the forum discount members based on age previously. I have seen plenty of teenage members on this forum who can talk circles around members in their 20s and 30s.

That said, pancakes isn't doing much in this thread (or that other one...) to suggest that he knows what he's talking about in regards to the topics in question. Let's take him to task for indefensible claims, not pubescence.

Yeah, I was just confirming that he hasn't played games long. If a member makes intelligent posts and doesn't stir up trouble for the fun of it, I don't really care what his/her age is. Now, with that said...

Have you been living under a rock or something? :P
CoD
Day of Defeat
Day of Defeat Source
Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45
Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad
Wolfenstein Enemy Territory

These are all WW2 online FPS games that are/have been popular. I'm sure there are more than that.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

What happened? When I joined this site people were friendly. Anyway, I was born and raised a gamer. I've been gaming for 11 years, and have almost never gotten rid of any games. I've spent most of the money I've ever had on games, and the only thing I ever ask for at Christmas is games. With the power of finding good deals on the internet, I now have a collection of around 200 games. That's not including the 20 or 30 games I have traded in or given away. Age doesn't mean a thing in my opinion. I've been running a gaming channel on Youtube for 3 years now which now has over 300 videos and more than 1500 subscribers. Therefore, I KNOW WHAT THE HELL I'M TALKING ABOUT! Just to get this set in your mind, WW2 shooters were inspirational. I don't give a damn about Doom, Quake, and other games like that. The original post had nothing to do with those games at all! Why are you even bringing them up! The original post was about how much I liked CoD 2 and other WW2 shooters! All of a sudden, several of you guys start attacking me! Seriously, read the damn topic first before you start spewing out unrelated nonsense. Look at the sales of World at War. That's a WW2 shooter. Therefore, WW2 shooters are pretty darn big on consoles. In regards to the hate I'm receiving for talking about this mid 2000s era, why? Just why? What is wrong with referring to a rather specific era?

Pancakes,

I'm against the age discrimination, but with the idea that your threads could be better thought out. It's fine to start a game related thread that's fun such as JT's Screenshots or the Games Beaten thread, but if you make a blanket statement or argument the guys and gals here expect you to back it up.

...and try not to be confrontational. We've got a very, very accepting group of people here and name calling is seen as juvenile. Feel your way around for a while and I'm sure you'll fit in.

On topic, I giggled at the thought of a revolutionary or civil war based fps game. There might be some of them out there, but in the reality the game would play as: Hang out in a camp for weeks waiting for orders. Maybe there will be a fight, maybe not. If you're "lucky" enough to get into a battle, the reloading times would take minutes.

Also, notice that the FPS genre was built around WW2 shooters, with the exception of Halo, Half-Life, and Time Crisis. WW2 shooters made the FPS genre the big hit it is today.
This in a nutshell.

Ah. I was going to say "But that has nothing to do with the topic title..." but that would render me a massive hypocrite.

Video games are cyclical. WW2 shooters were a fad throughout the 00's and they're out now.

Ok, ok, I apologize for getting angry. I'd like to clarify a few things. This thread is basically about how great I thought CoD 2 is, and how I don't like the direction of the CoD series. I realize I threw in a lot of gibberish in the original post, but that was simply due to my excitement after literally JUST beating such a great game. I'd like to clarify a few things as well.

1. I am referring strictly to console FPS in this thread, because I am not stupid despite what people have clearly been thinking, and I do realize Doom, Quake, etc. were much more influential FPS games on the PC.

2. There is absolutely NO argument in which I intended to make with this thread. Again, I was simply excited and in the mood for a rant while writing the original post. Those of you who posted supposed rebuttals, you've wasted your time.

3. Age does not justify knowledge of gaming whatsoever. Hell there is probably a five year old out there more educated in terms of gaming than all of us. Gaming knowledge is based on your dedication, passion, and experience, towards gaming. If you would like me to post picture proof of me being a fairly experienced gamer with a large and diverse collection of games, so be it.

4. Last but not least, I'm turning 15 May 21st. :D
