Metroid: Other M - Worst Metroid Ever?

In terms of "funness" I'd argue Prime Hunters is "the worst" one.

That game was so unfun. It was just unreal how awful it was to me. Such a disappointment after having nothing to play on for so long on the DS but the freaking Metroid demo.

I had to convince someone who'd only played Hunters that the Metroid Prime games were worthwhile.

The main other problem is that Samus' characterization was unnecessary and pretty disappointing. I didn't want her to be an emotionless ice queen, but the way she acted was completely irrational.

The issue is that Samus already had a parallel character who her perosnality should've been modeled after (and was already modeled after in the minds of many players, I'm sure): Ripley from the Alien movies. Metroid itself was heavily inspired by the original Alien, so it's pretty natural to think of Samus that way I think.

I know someone who has only played Metroid Prime Hunters. No other Metroid games. I'm having the hardest time convincing him that not only are the older ones good ... but are in fact masterpieces.

He won't even give Super Metroid more than a passing glance on YouTube

I read somewhere that Samus in other M is stricken with ptsd and basically warped by her experiences.. with some sort of insane romanticizing of her past and present circumstances going on while she drones on forever.. plus that anime thing..

it's really just turned into a "this story crap is annoying" but the game is quick and responsive and it's a blast be in the zone and engaging enemies.. ..just like ninja gaiden... i almost beat it but ended up shelving it for a while.. i prefer to start over and i tried a couple times, but i sit there messing w/ my guitar or something half the time.. i stop caring and it's lame that you can't skip that stuff..

but worst metroid ever? i dunno. if i could play it without the hours of story it might end up on repeat for a while.

i've been trying to learn all the craziness of Zero Mission while i work my mostly-sit-in-my-car weekend job lately. that game is sick.

additionally, it would be nice to see a 2.5D metroid game, kind of like Wild 9 (PSone), but deep and maze like. Hell, they could probably make it on whatever engine they made Other M with. Samus on a 2D plane with 2D controls is a force to be reckoned with. They shouldn't forget that all the most badass metroid players are the most badass in that dimension.

Yeah, I wouldn't say Other M is the worst. I found it more playable than Hunters which was just awkward and bland on the DS.

Personally, Other: M is my favorite title of the series. With Fusion coming in pretty close and then Prime.

Fusion, the other one with way too much narrative, guidance, and triggered events... lol.
(I do like Fusion myself though)
