No, I don't act like it. At all. I just want a good character to stay in a good series.the7k wrote:You act like Smash Bros was the first time Snake appeared in a game like this.

Maybe if Smash actually tried to appeal to casuals AND hardcore at the same time, I'd let it be called a 'good series'.General_Norris wrote:No, I don't act like it. At all. The only way Smash could become a good series again is if PlayStation All-Stars does well enough that Nintendo realizes that they can't just fuck over the competitive community and not expect to lose to competition. Only then might Smash 4 have a chance to be more than just a "Shits and Giggles" game.

I seriously doubt that Nintendo ever intended for smash to appeal to the competitive community to begin with.
Re: Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale
Does not mean that they had to go out of their way to prevent it from having a competitive community. Especially when some of the things they put in aren't fun for casuals either.AppleQueso wrote:I seriously doubt that Nintendo ever intended for smash to appeal to the competitive community to begin with.
It's one thing to go out of your way to cater to a certain crowd. It's another thing entirely to go out of your way to shit on that crowd. There's plenty of games out there that weren't intended to be competitive but still happened to be competitive.
Could you imagine if, say, New Super Mario Bros 2 had every stage take exactly 3 minutes to end, whether you completed the stage in 1 minute or you never even made it there, just to discourage speed runs?

Oh, c'mon 7k, you are better than trying to get into a shitty "Smash is for casuals" debate.
For the record, the biggest tournaments I have held are Smash Bros tournaments. Deride if you want.

Deriding Brawl. That game is an abomination fit only for single-player.

Dude, Melee vs Brawl is so passé I refuse to take into it.the7k wrote:Deriding Brawl. That game is an abomination fit only for single-player.

I don't see how anyone could look at the design decisions of Brawl and just give it a fucking free pass. Is this fucking Stockholm Syndrome?General_Norris wrote: Dude, Melee vs Brawl is so passé I refuse to take into it.
Wake up. Nintendo doesn't want your competitive community. If they wanted to make Brawl without even considering how it would be in a competitive sense: fine. They did the same thing with Melee, and that mess of a game was made into something good. However, the company has ACTIVELY put in 'features' to distract from it being a competitive game. They are spitting in your eye and you are sitting here asking for more.
I eat at a shitty restaurant, I'll try out another one. Here another restaurant is opening up, and your saying "Nah nah, I like the crap I've been eating!"

Dude, really, I don't care. You can talk with yourself if you want to, but I won't get into it. Why? You are not interested in comparing or understanding design but crying and complaining because Nintendo "betrayed" you or the "competitive scene" or whatever bullshit.
Brawl is a decade old already, there's no need to reavivate such a shitty and fanboyish debate.

Re: Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale
Regardless, your whole argument of "putting Snake in this game means he won't show up in Smash 4" is flawed. Snake has cameoed in many games on and off the PlayStation. Sony has never said that the Snake character cannot be in another game before, why would they make that stipulation now?General_Norris wrote:Dude, really, I don't care. Moreover, why would either Konami or Kojima agree to not have Snake appear in another Smash game? This game needs Snake, Snake DOES NOT need this game, so it's really Sony that would be bending over backwards to get Snake in this game.
And dude, I'm not even a part of the competitive Smash scene (Although I have many friends who are - including some who helped with the Brawl Minus and Project M mods), but Sakurai putting in features like this are just damaging. I don't see how a developer could have such disdain for his own customers.
Spirit of competition. Just as I am against SFxT's Pay-To-Win bullshit, I'm against Brawl's roll-of-the-dice bullshit.
