I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an asshole. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase FFXIII for either system, nor will they purchase any of Square's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Square has alienated an entire market with this move.

Square, publicly apologize and cancel FFXIII for 360 or you can kiss your business goodbye.

Maybe I'd understand this being plausible if it wasn't going to appear on the PS3 at all, but it is. This isn't hurting the consumer at all, it's only giving them more options. Square Enix is going to benefit the most from the decision while Sony may lose a few potential console sales.

So, how come the Japanese public still went out and bought DMC4? If Capcom brought shame on themselves by bringing DMC4 to the 360 then surely the Japanese wouldn't have bought it, because they care so much about shame and honour, right? Not that i'm doubting your expert status or anything.

Also, even if the Japanese public reacted as you believe, you are failing to grasp one simple point; Final Fantasy XIII is coming out on the 360 in the West only, in Japan it is still exclusive to the PS3, so realisticly Japanese people aren't going to give a shit that FFXIII is being released for the 360 too, because for the most part they probably won't know/care about it.

Simply saying games are limited by format is stupid. There's plenty of games that are 60 hours plus on 8meg cartridges...

RyaN, please shut up. You have absolutely no idea on how games are made and the technical limits on consoles.

For a start MGS4 has several installs throughout the game. I'd much rather swap a DVD than have to sit 20m for the first install, 10-15m for each consecutive install. Swapping a DVD takes 30 seconds max. And that's after spinning around, picking my nose, pulling my shorts out of my ass and scratching my nuts. It's bullshit saying that games for the PS3 can't be ported to 360 because it uses DVD. WTF? Why not split the game up. If the largest PS3 guys require mandatory installs and constant re-installs i'd much rather have multi discs and swap. It's so much quicker.

fyi, it takes 15 minutes max for first install then about 2 minutes for each other one, about the amount of time it takes to get your ass off the couch, take the disc out, put the disc in, and wait for it to load.

edit: also why would M$ announce that the 360 now has the capability to partial install games JUST LIKE THE PS3. Their has to be some demand for the feature or mabe M$ is just doing it to say "yea, we can do that too" (this is oddly starting to sound like the Genesis/SNES war)

Right FYI I have MGS4. It DID NOT take '2 minutes' for the other installs. It took considerably longer than that. Definitely not not faster than getting up and changing a disk. Changing a disk takes 30 seconds max.

The reason they are allowing optional FULL INSTALLS for games on the 360 is because of the complaints from the optical drive. These are full installs of the game. Meaning that the games load faster, throughout the game and are not just a fix for a slow optical drive AKA the PS3.

You talk like you were an avid during the console war of the MD and SNES...

Just because you know a thing or two about PC's doesn't mean you know everything about consoles. Consoles are completely different from PCs.

I know what MY PS3 does and doesn't do. I've sat there and watched painfully load the next chapter in MGS4. If this is what I have to look towards in future 'AAA' titles (man i hate that phrase) then i'm not sure i'm really seeing the benefit of 'teh blu-rays'. If I can only access the data of the BD-ROM in DVD-ROM sized chunks WTF is the point in it? really?! (this is a rant solely at games on BD not video, which is another rant entirely)

And to talk about the topic I'm really glad that FF is coming to the 360 that gives us consumers a choice. There been some people that liked SONY products but didn't had the kind of money to dish out for a PS3 but the 360 was like 200 less and that's an attractive buy.
