Yeah, but I imagine Sony had Konami sign 50 exclusivity contracts because it's for many the only convincing reason to get a PS3 (not to say the rest of the library is shit). Plus, while the graphics don't look too hard to do on the 360, it'd definitely be at least 3 DVDs, probably more. Then again FFXIII is probably a few DVDs too...Flak Beard wrote:Now I'm not so sure if there will be a future PS3 purchase for me. This was the only game selling me on the system besides having access to BluRay movies. If someone comes out with a much cheaper BluRay player, why bother with the PS3 anymore?
Also, MGS4 is no longer safe. If Square-Enix can bring FFXIII to the 360, Konami can do the same for their game. This a major news announcement on Microsoft's part. Things are getting very interesting.
Despite what some may think, it IS possible to spilt a game into several discs. I believe the Bluray discs store around 30GB or so, which isn't too hard to cram onto a few dual layer DVDs. They CAN just make it a bit less detailed on the 360 version, not as though they have to only use one DVD and leave most of the Bluray disc empty. It's not like the 360 is equal in power and media to the Atari 2600.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:to quote the AVGN... "AAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS" It may hurt the PS3 but not me as i dont like final fantasy but when you think about it, most every FF13 fan has probably bought a PS3 already and are just playing the waiting game. Great though, you know what this means to PS3 fans like myself, we get a shorter, less attractive game due to YOU XBOTS DVD FORMAT!!!
I agree with Niode, Sony really hasn't innovated at all unless I'm forgetting something. Closest thing is Bluray, which is just a different format. As innovative as Sega was for using GD-ROMs. They're making the same mistake so many console designers made before: thinking if it's more powerful it'll sell better than the 'inferior' other consoles. Look at the Wii:
as much as I hate some of the choices N makes about it, it's original. It's a fresh experience. Something people haven't done before. Most of us have played sports games and the like on other consoles, but it's entirely different on the Wii. And it sold so well N couldn't keep up for a while. While on the other hand, the only difference between a game on the PS3 and a game on the 360 is the PS3 one might look a bit better and have the potential of being longer without using a second disc. The controllers are more or less the same with a different layout and feel, the game is played exactly the same. There's no big difference, no innovation. I'm not a big Microsoft fan, but at least they were somewhat innovative, they brought online gaming to the mainstream in a way the Dreamcast couldn't do in its short life. Sony may have done well the last two generations and they probably won't do too bad this time, but I don't think the future Sony consoles are going to do any better the way they do things, unless the other consoles suck by then.
