What to get in the States

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

If any of you guys come to Portugal let me know... I can give you some tips as well. Although currently the exchange rate makes much stuff more expensive than it should be (for U.S. people, that is). In any case it is probable that going out for a meal in a decent restaurant is cheaper here than there (for example).

The U.S. military guy that was in Portugal probably was in the Azores (the U.S. has a base in Terceira island), which is arguably nicer than the mainland in terms of landscape and such things.

The Philly specific stuff (like cheese steak sandwich) was discussed in the other thread already :)

I had some further ideas on stuff to get:

I could use some of those headphones that are small and still block outside noise, for using in the subway (which can be quite noisy from the friction of the rails in bends and the beeps for opening and closing doors). Advice anyone? The main intended use is my DS lite.

I haven't seen those 90s style Reebok Pumps here in Portugal, but I bet I can find a pair in the U.S. (retro Reeboking!). If Reebok still makes them, nowadays Reebok is all aerobics shoes for women :P (they have some nice "casual" style ones that look like normal shoes though).

I'm also pondering if I should get a pair of those classic "pilot style" Raybans as sadly, my pair of retro rabyans were lost or (probably) stolen, (probably) in the subway. I have my bike glasses which have a dark lens set (usually I used the transparent lens just to keep insects, polen, rain, wind and stuff from hitting my eyes when cycling). But they are arguably too stylish for my taste when I'm using them as a pedestrian.

Also, I suggest wearing baggy blue jeans and t-shirts. But not t-shirts from tourist attractions. More stuff like video game shirts if you've got 'em. Don't want to look like a tourist.

I only have one video game shirt, maybe I should get more in the U.S. ;)

Definitely! The euro's doing well, they should be fairly cheap depending on where you go.

So I'm actually going on the 28th :)

I thought about getting a Genesis / Saturn / PS controller things that convert the ports to USB so I can use the real pads on my PC.
I don't need to be a all in one unit, I'm ok with buying one for each controller type if needs be. I think this stuff exists, I'm not sure how easy it is to find it? I also want to get a Genesis pad, original or 6 button.
