What to get in the States

Post by Ivo »

As I mentioned in the other thread, I'm going to Philly.

Because of some factors (in particular the very favorable exchange rate, but also the base RRPs tend to be lower) I'm considering getting some stuff there (could be stuff I can get on ebay, but without paying the large(r) shipping costs). And I'm open to neat ideas or suggestions.
I will illustrate the point with a DS lite (I have one already, but it's a good example). Europe, 150 Euros (with tax included). U.S., 130 USD (some places have no tax). Let's imagine with state-dependant tax it goes to 140 USD, in Euros that is under 91 Euros!

At the moment the only things I know I want to get are:
GBA game Wario Ware: Twisted (not released in Europe!)
Mini-tripod for digital camera

I'm undecided on "upgrading" a couple of things I already have.
A NGPC (particularly if I can find one of those "slim" ones that I learned existed in this forum). I have one already, it was very cheap when I got it because it is missing the battery cover and he screen is slightly scratched.
A truly portable external (flash based or not) hard drive for backups and such. I have an external USB bay with an internal drive, which I can obviously travel with, but I never feel too comfortable moving it around (say, in a daily basis/without padding around). One of those purpose built drives with mobility in mind may be in order.

Ivo.

Where are you from Ivo? From your thread topic, it sounds like you're from outside the US.

Sarcasm??

Anyways, do you have anyone who can buy online for you? I think that's your best bet for the retro stuff, the hdd and consoles you can pretty much walk in a store and get them

For the tripod you can probably find on at a Ritz Camera. It's a chain so there are plenty in the city.

Cheese steak sammich????? *high-fives* :D

Really though, anything electronic or game related is going to be normally cheaper in the states than Europe (almost always when I've checked pricing) so whatever you want to buy would likely be cheaper.

Ah, cool. My stepdad's mom was from Portugal. Met his dad when he was shipped overseas in the Army. They always said it was a really nice place to live.
