Upscaling will usually cause lag and because most classic consoles only have low resolution, interlaced outputs that are susceptible to interference, eventually a PC or next gen console running an emulator in your display's native resolution, with no interlacing, higher quality sound and a digital video connection for a complete lack of fuzz. I know it may not strike the same warm sense of nostalgia into people, but it definitely looks and plays better, with no slowdown, lag, crackle or anything like that.
Hi,

I agree with opethfan: Unfortunately emulation (including Wii's VC) will be the only option to play classics games, but some LCDs have better built-in upscaler than others. I've played Sega Genesis and Commodore 64 in a Samsung LCD and look well from a prudent distance (2m).

The VC looks better, of course.

buying a better lcd or plasma than others will make all the difference. small tvs from samsung and panasonic utilize the same internal technology as their larger brethren. as a result, you get a great image no matter the input. I play SNES on my 26" panny and, while it does look pixelated, it looks fantastic and just as good, if not better, than the CRT. you can decrease pixelation by not stretching the screen.

Anyone tried one of those upscan converter like the XRGB. I heard you get pretty good results.

You gais are such n00bs. Everyone knows if you want quality retro graphics worthy of jerking off to you
need to buy a XRGB-2 or XRGB-3 and a Sony GDMFW-900. I do not recommend a XRGB-3 if you are
JUST playing snes /gen /neo ect.. go with the XRGB-2+... However, if yo u do play a good deal of old xbox (for emulators)
or wii games the xrgb-3 is well worth it. Now, I have used my xrgb-3 with plasma and lcd's and led lcd's and even
some projectors and the up-scaling is nice but the best part are the hard-ware scan lines. It really takes
that nasty fuzzy look out that LCD monitors put in and gives it that nice crisp CRT vibe

There is a second meathod, which I've not tried but I've heard works rather well...

These don't upscale but they will give you a clean RGB image as opposed to
coaxial or composite. You will also need to solder in your own audio jacks.
However, i've neard nothing but great things about this box.

Honestly, you need to go to

and search around on upscaleing and HDTV.
