Embarassed to say that Witcher 2 might be my

Post by JC48573 »

first Western Rpg I will dedicate my time to. I have tried other Western Rpgs like Dragon Age and Mass Effect, but I simply couldn't get passed the 30 min or 1 hour mark. You are probably wondering, how is Witcher 2 any different? You see, I have a thing for monster slayers and Geralt is one badass (I have to thank Devil May Cry). He's got those feline eyes that reminded me of my all time favorite Thundercats series (yea, those were the days) and look at his hair! It's gray! Ain't that cool?!

I also have a thing for red heads with fashion taste at that.

Wow, that's a very large image of the lovely Triss Merrigold. You might want to just make that one a link so your post is still readable.

I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with The Witcher 2. I've also been a bit slow to warm on Western RPGs because I grew up on JRPGs, but the Witcher 2 has shot to the top of my all-time top 10 RPG list. It's really fantastic and I hope that as it releases on Xbox360 this month that it expands the audience for this game. The PC people have given this game high praise, but it doesn't get the same kind of airtime that major console titles or cross-platform titles get. Hopefully that is about to change. This game kicks ass.

I started on the same path as an RPG gamer and I'm really excited to play The Witcher 2. I have heard amazing reviews and great impressions from the PC version.

My copy from Amazon should be arriving this week can't wait!! 8)

I guess what I like about Witcher 2 is attention to detail. I also love how the characters are not lazily done like most Western Rpgs I've seen *cough* skyrim *cough* in the past. Characters are also well animated.

I've thought about getting this game for a while on PC. Does it matter if I play the first one ahead of time?

//edit
Just saw The Witcher enhanced version on Steam for 9.99. I've now purchased it. 8)

I don't think it matters too much. There are some allusions to earlier happenings from the first, but you won't feel too lost. I think there is a way to carry stuff over from an old save too. I only played a few hours of the first one, then got real excited for the sequel and started playing that without finishing the first. I like the sequel quite a bit more, though the first Witcher is also a fine game. I'll go back and play the first when I finish the sequel.

If you want a recap of the first game, you can watch this video:

They made that for the Xbox360 people that haven't played the original since it was a PC exclusive.

There's also a nice new trailer:

I'm interested in seeing this when it comes out for 360. It looks beautiful. I just hope the gameplay matches with the beauty. How does this one play?

Here's a few more oversized pictures. :P

I installed the Enhanced Edition patch. These pictures are taken in-game with the HUD turned off. You can see that the lighting effects are looking extra fancy now:

Here there is a nice mist effect over the waters of Vergen:

I'm also really excited that I recently got Geralt a haircut that looks very similar to mine.
