I only recently bought a SNES and I'm scared to buy games from the UK because I suspect they are incompatible.

Snes games : a PAL question.
Will UK-released SNES games work on European systems? If I buy a game from England and try to play it on my European Super Nintendo console, will it work? I know Europe is all PAL but I'm asking because a NES game I once bought from the UK didn't play on my NES. And so I learned about PAL-a and PAL-b and their incompatibility.

Yep the should do. If you have any concerns though then as long as your SNES has coloured face buttons and a rounded design (in contrast to purple and boxy) and the games arecurved on the corners (instead of square) then you should be fine as they are PAL.

Wow I have never heard of SECAM before, its difficulty to know if the SECAM technology affects the game carts exactly. I can't imagine that they would though, the console would just have different outputs at the back. I don't think that Nintendo would have (/gone to the effort of) altering the carts for such a minority. I mean they hardly went out of their with dcent PAL release dates.
Sorry but you'll have to do some additional research.
