You must have missed out on the 90's. It was the same back then.env963 wrote:AmishSamurai wrote:God, what's with all of the grognardy "EVERYTHING NEW SUCKS!" threads popping up recently? I realize where I am, but the hatred of anything remotely modern is getting pretty intense.
Just getting bored with the trend... to much of the same crap! Call of duty 412, Resistance 143, Halo 932, Final Fantasy 321. Same crap again and again..
I can't wait till my copy of xenoblade chronicles comes in the mail. I am hoping trying something new and refreshing and hopefully its not too hard. Im not really a huge RPG gamer, i just beat parasite eve and the last RPG before that was Final fantasy X, about 7 years ago.
Are all games rehashes now days?

Re: Are all games rehashes now days?
As somebody who plays modern games a whole lot more than retro these days, I'll tell you that there are plenty of new and interesting games coming out. I get the feeling that a lot of people here are just extremely out of touch with modern games and as such think the only AAA titles coming out are poorly made FPS games.
Also, launch lineups almost always suck, looking to the future, there's a lot to look forward too on Vita. Gravity Rush in particular looks amazing.
Edit: I also find it interesting that so many people complain about the "rehashes" when many of us in the 90s would kill to have more of our favorite franchise. Expansion packs, sequels, whatever.
Damned if you give them what they want. Damned if you don't.

I think i play more modern games vs retro and im acuatlly finding myself playing more retro vs modern or at least looking for something new and different.
Anyone ever play Limbo? If not, WTF? LOL That game is very refreshing.
I enjoyed Child of Eden (not quite as good as Rez, but very, very good)
Yesterday i tried the demo of "closure".. very interesting!
I think the more innovating titles might be on PSN or XLBA as a digital downloads.
I dont know, just getting bored. BTW We need more Shumps in released. To bad nobody buys these anymore. I can only imagine use the full power of the xbox360 or Ps3, instead of just downloading old PSone games.

There are actually quite a few SHMUPS on the 360. Region free disc releases too.env963 wrote:I think i play more modern games vs retro and im acuatlly finding myself playing more retro vs modern or at least looking for something new and different.

I find that a lot of the really cool stuff is via DD these days (especially on PC). So many indie devs. that now have a cheap, easy way to distribute their stuff.

If you don't like it look the other way and stop being a hypocrite (complaining about angry sounding posts and then making one). No one has been overly aggressive, we're just talking about a problem with the industry.AmishSamurai wrote:God, what's with all of the grognardy "EVERYTHING NEW SUCKS!" threads popping up recently? How it's terrible and ruining everything and how gaming will be taken over by the dudebros and casual-mums! amirite?

If you think it's okay for developers/publishers to milk franchises, intentionally avoid innovation, and saturate (and ultimately control) the market then I don't really know what to say to you.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:What problem?
Re: Are all games rehashes now days?
Im not angry about anything. Just getting bored with alot of the new stuff. Thought i couldnt be alone on this topic. And it seems like game sales are down year after at least that is what i keep hearing.

That's always been the case... I can go on and on with a list of 80s and 90s sequels. Or the abundance of brawlers or platformers in the 90s. They make what sells.brunoafh wrote:If you think it's okay for developers/publishers to milk franchises, intentionally avoid innovation, and saturate (and ultimately control) the market then I don't really know what to say to you.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:What problem?
There is such a variety of stuff out there right now, I think you would have to be willfully ignorant to think the way you are. That or you are only looking at the best selling % of games. I have more quality newish games of all sorts on my shelf that I don't have time to get to them all.
