It was pretty darn confusing. I felt like I needed a guide to do a couple of things as my next objective was confusing.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Did you find the whole Palace of Solomon/underground sewers section of the game as frustrating as I did?

Oh yes...
There's a guide for the DS version of Book II on GameFAQs that provides very good and very literal ("go left, now go north, now go left...") directions for getting through that place. I used that guide when I played the DS, PSP, and TCD versions of the game. Would have gone insane otherwise.
That palace had really amazing atmosphere and music though.

I think I was confused in the lava zone too. I was wandering for what felt like an hour in there and some monsters cornered me and killed me, I think I lost 2 or 3 levels.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Oh yes...

I'm guessing that he played for awhile without saving and then got killed?dsheinem wrote:You can lose levels in Ys II?Stark wrote:I think I was confused in the lava zone too. @Stark Yeah that lava zone is no picnic either. I was surprised to see how tiny it was in the TCD version, much easier to get through. The Roos/demons didn't have a village either, you just meet them on a bridge.

Yeah that's what I meant; I was unclear. I lost levels because I forgot to save.BoneSnapDeez wrote:I'm guessing that he played for awhile without saving and then got killed?dsheinem wrote:

That's interesting about the differences between TCD and PSP, I thought that was mostly the beginning of the game that was different.

There's many differences between the TCD Book I & II and the newer DS/PSP ports. I can't think of them all off the top of my head though. Usually it's just a case of things being added to the newer versions: more towns, more items, bigger overworld, etc... Most of the mazes are the same thankfully, so any maps will work for navigation.

Re: Together Retro: Ys I
It was a good month! Played an RPG I never thought I otherwise would have. That's what TR is about!
