For years as a kid, I said "tem-co" instead of Tecmo. It wasn't until I heard a friend say it that I double-checked the name.

And yes, everyone said Ninja Gayden. Just as everyone called Raiden in Mortal Kombat "Ray-den" (although to be fair, his name was literally "Rayden" in the first game).

So, is the shooter game Raiden called "rye-den"? I've never heard anyone say it that way.

I always wondered how Americans would say Suikoden. I researched the proper pronunciation when I first heard of the game, since I was heading to a game store to ask for it.

Yes, Raiden is pronounced "Rye-Den", not "Ray-Den"

And Gradius is not pronounced "Grey-dius". I've heard that one a lot. Its "Grah-Dius"

And R-type is pronounced "FFFFFF"

I say Suikoden, sue-koh-den, since the original came out on PSX. Don't know if that is how you say it or not.

Its funny, because I think bullet hell shooters are way easier than old school shooters.

Less levels, slower bullets, more focus on scoring difficulty instead of survival difficulty.

Perhaps so -- it seems like I've been following you around on threads all day and all the games you have and I never heard of -- so yeah its education on both sides -- I show you the older arcade style ones and I learn of all these funky imported console games
