Pronouncing game titles (starting with Ys)

Post by Jerkface Killah »

Hey, how do people pronounce Ys? I've always pronounced it "ease" but I heard it on the 8-4 Play podcast pronounced "eese" as in "geese". I assumed they are correct being in Japan, the game's origin. How do you guys say it?

Edit: It was suggested, by Stark, that this become a thread for pronounciation in general. Lets see where that goes. What other game titles have you always pronounced one way only to find it is another?

Isn't the actual city of French origin?

OP you should change this to a pronunciation thread. Just my thought. I always thought it was fascinating all of the weird ones you come across. Here's a few I know of or have participated in:

Lumines (said: Loo-mi-ness) - I always said it, Loo-mens, until recently when I played the Vita version and it was said at the title screen.

Ubisoft (said: You-be-soft) - I always said it, Ooh-be-soft. I then read that it should sound like the shortening of "Ubiquitous" and "Software"

I've always heard "eese" like geese with no g. And yes, it is of French origin.

As a kid I always called it Y.S., like an acronym.
