That doesn't make sense (although if I try to play with a gamepad any other way, I bet I'd suck). I think part of why I got the highest score in Defender was because I was using the right hand on the directional controls...

Ivo.
I find that interesting as well. For me, I can push buttons much more rapidly with my dominant hand (my right) so I find the normal set up works fine. What do left-handed people do? I suppose they just learn to adapt like driving a manual transmission in the States.
True -- I have considered getting a 360 one for that reason...
But the Sega stick looks so much better...

I have the DOA4 Hori stick as well, and I use that for my XBLA games and a few things on my computer. Great stick for the price.
Yes, the VSHG is compatible with PS2 games (it wasn't at first, but they released a patch), although I haven't tested that because I don't have a PS3!

Seems a little too cheap to be worthwhile. What do you guys recommend for PC/PS2 use?
As you guessed, that stick is not very good. Not very durable and it has a strange feeling to it. But, some people have different taste.

I can recommend anything made by Hori, they have many different sticks. I don't know too much about MAS sticks, but they look like good quality too. If you want something much more expensive that will work with a 360 and your PC, there are the arcade-in-a-box sticks. http://www.arcadeinabox.com/Scripts/default.asp

Sorry for triple posting. How in the hell do I quote several people in one post?

I am indeed a mac user. Yes, it works perfectly with MAME OSX, although I haven't had the stick for a very long time and haven't tried every game. No drivers, just plug it in and set up the buttons.

I've been saving for it, perhaps a little too long, because they are out of print now. The last batch were sold out in March. It's too bad since the original price was just under 100USD (shipping costs a ton because it weighs 12 pounds). That is a awesome steal for the kind of stick this is. I don't believe they were ever available outside of Japan, but many online sites carried them.

They might make more, but usually sticks just go out of print forever. There's always a chance they might make another one for the next Virtua Fighter game next year or whenever it comes out.

I paid much more than the original price since I bought it after they were out of print and in high demand. I snatched it up from eBay...brand new, from a trusted seller that I have dealt with before. And make sure if you buy one that the box has a sticker over the barcode, and the underside of the base has a letter "M" inscribed in it, as there was an initial recall and these elements mark the new, tested version.

It is cheaper than the HRAP3 for some reason, and it was also cheaper than getting an arcade-in-a-box, or a custom job from a trusted independent maker.

I can already feel my DDP skills going to the next level...

I found a Virtua Stick High Grade for $168... even all Sanwa parts, I'm going to have to think about that one before I buy it.

It is definitely a tougher choice now that the prices are much higher. If you know how to modify a stick (I don't), apparently the DC Agetec stick is VERY easy to modify and have any kind of parts you want...which of course will be cheaper than buying the VSHG.

On a side note, does anybody know a site that lists ALL arcade sticks that have been made? It might be nice to have all that info in one place, instead of lurking around the shoruken forums.

I used to have one - it seemed like they cut it right out of a CPS!

Grabbed two of them when Gamestop was clearing them out for $30 each. They work very well for XBOX mame, but I don't think they cut the mustard for the arcade elite. More than acceptable for my gaming.

I also grabbed a Tekken 5 stick bundle when they were being cleared out. Excellent stick by Hori, and it came with Tekken 5, along with a really neat "Bookshelf worthy" case for Tekkens 1-5. It made me want to pick up tekken 1 and tekken tag just to complete the book.

Someone mentioned the crappy saturn stick. I'm assuming they're referring to the US version. I personally thought it was alright. Sure, it wasn't a microswitch "Clicky Clicky" stick, but it worked well for galactic attack, darius, etc.

BUT, if you're looking for a more legitimate Saturn stick, Sega DID release a few Decent Japanese Virtua sticks, that work perfectly fine on a domestic saturn.

i too would love to find all the info in one place.

I'm looking for a decent xbox stick these days for emulation. Thinking about the street fighter 15th anniversary edition stick.

Naki makes a 60 dollar wireless arcade stick for the xbox/ps2. Anyone try that one out?

i would hate to shell out the cash and then get a flimsy breakable controller in the mail.

BTW so jealous of your Virtua Stick High Grade for the ps3. nice.

Here's what I've got...

These are the same as the DOA4 stick.

Love it.

So very awesome. I really love this thing.

I'd like to get a HRAP sometime. Supposedly there will be some great sticks coming out with SFIV. I might wait and see what happens. The only site I know of with some comprehensive info is Markman's site: http://sdtekken.com/
or more specifically: http://sdtekken.com/tech-area/arcade-sticks/
