Tell your mom that the games you are buying are a investment in your future. that somewhere down the road you will sell them for a down payment on a home.
since you are also putting cash in the bank tell her it is a way to diversify your income.

True dat. It's good to see people my age who realizes there's more to life than getting drunk and high. I literally have no friends anymore thanks to weed, I got tired of being around people who have no sense of what friendship is. Long story, I'm not saying everyone who smokes weed is incapable of having meaningful relationships, but I found out that I'm doing a lot better without those people. I also used to smoke, so I'm no better than anyone who did or does, but video games are literally what made me realize that getting high isn't the only way to have fun.Armymanis wrote:I let her know its better than wasting all my money on weed and drugs like my best friend does. My best friend and I used to play video games a lot and now hes more into wasting his money on beer, drugs, and weed.
Sorry for straying off topic but yeah I think you should tell your mom basically what you told us, that you think you're doing fine where you are. That you finally found something that you genuinely enjoy but you haven't lost sight of the fact that you have bigger goals in life and you still save up money for your future and all that crap. lol

Well Worked out a compromise with my mom. Going to work 40 hours a week, do two classes and pay $400 for rent a month. Good enough for me! The rest I get to save/spend.

It's hard for me to comment on your situation 'cause I don't know all the details... and no offense, but I don't really care to know, lol. Venting is a great outlet and it's not my role to judge. But I was in a similar predicament and, really, I can't quite remember how I got over that hurdle...
As I got older I took better care of my games and started becoming thoroughly obsessed with gaming culture and the industry. My parents took notice of this passion of mine and never said anything to undermine it. Though, there's one thing I hold over my Mom's head to this very day...
Toys "R" Us... bargain bin... Suikoden II, brand spankin' new! $19.99
I already own the game and love it. I have this gut feeling that this special game is going to be worth something in the future. So I ask my Mom if she can forward me my allowance for the yard work I'm going to do in advance, lol. She agrees... then, as we approach the register, I do something extremely stupid and try to explain to her that I already own the game but I want to keep this one sealed and in pristine condition 'cause it might be worth something some day. She disagrees and makes me put it away.
...
Present day, our conversation goes something like this:
Me, "Hey Mom, remember that game that-"
Mom, "You're never going to let me live this down..."
Me, "Yeeeaaah, $500.00 Mom. Just sayin'!"
Mom, "Ok ok, but if you did have it... would you sell it?"
Me, "... Hell no!"
Mom, "That's what I thought."
Me, "But if you had let me buy two of them I could keep one and-"
Mom, "Oh shut up!"
I love my mom, lol! Needless to say she doesn't say anything about my buying games anymore, lol, an' my wife understands my obsession. Collecting books is her thing, video games is mine.
