I keep thinking I'm just about done with the show, but keep coming back in hopes that something happens.
The characters are bad, they do the most stupid things possible, and there's almost zero action on a week to week basis. last night was 3 minutes of awesome Daryl kicking ass, 53 minutes of debate, stupidity and commercials, 4 minutes of awesome death
The Walking Dead tv series
Re: The Walking Dead tv series
Zero action? Last week there was a barrage of zombies and a huge fight between Rick and Shane. 2 weeks ago there was a shooting for the first 15 minutes, and an awesome scene with Lori vs a zombie in a flipped car. 3 weeks ago it ended with one of the most tense scenes they've had this season and Rick killing 2 guys. The episode before that had Shane busting open the barn door and the entire cast open firing on about 20 zombies.
I know it's not a 100 million dollar action movie but. . . It's not a 100 million dollar action movie. And to me the most interesting aspects of the show haven't even dealt with zombies. It's been dealing with the issues like last night. But everyone has their own expectations of what the show should be. I just think if anyone just wants a whole bunch of zombie slaughter there's plenty of movies that fit that bill.

Re: The Walking Dead tv series
I dont need video game type fighting with constant zombie hoards. I just need something besides 50 minutes debating a single question. I just get irritated with subtle things now. Like carl being alone in the woods with a walker for half the day and rick and lori dont notice?
I did get some lulz cuz i totally forgot about tdog until he showed up in the living room for the vote. I was like "oh right, they have a black guy"

Re: The Walking Dead tv series

If you want more action, watch a cartoon. If you want more death, play a video game
Some of us don't mind a show with some drama, some philosophical debate and action/death when it actually adds something to the story

i'm guessing you didn't read the comics. The show VERY loosely follows the comics. VERY loosely.
It seems like right now about the only thing the show and the comics have in common are a few character names and zombies.
Re: The Walking Dead tv series
I don't get what that has to do with his comment....
But I'm on that same boat. I like the show because they spend time thinking about what has become of their humanity, trying to survive as modern humans in a world gone bad.
It isn't a shoot countless zombies and spit cheesy lines type of thing. If you want that....well go watch those.

well this is a walking dead thread discussion thread and i'm just venting from time to time as i watch the series also. i'm not bashing anyone for liking the show so don't take it as a personal attack that i don't like the way the series is headed.

I'm with this StickyGuy all the way. He's only pointing out the fact that the characters lack any common sense, the story drags, and that although it isn't meant to be the comic panel for panel, the show should follow the comic to some extent (please leave the friggin farm).
I mentioned earlier that things have changed in the writing staff, and I'm more than aware of how this season ends and how the new one will begin. Plus there is all that legal nonsense with Darabount. The show will never be as good as the comic, but it doesn't have to be to make an incredible show. The fact remains that fans of the comic don't want constant super zombie action, they also don't want idiots dicking around for forty five minutes. All they want is a slice of emotion that appears throughout every page of the comic. I could be wrong, but I don't remember Rick telling everyone in a state of clairvoyance "It's not them. It's us. We are the walking dead". That's the stuff that makes the hair on your neck stand up.
There's a part in every arc of a story where character development should really come to a halt and exposition should take over. I will say the past two episodes have done a good job at this, but as I said before the show should be renamed "The Standing Living".
The series will keep getting better Stickitto'em, that's for sure. But I doubt we'll see anything close to something written by, say, David Chase (oh, and pick up the April issue of Vanity Fair) but the show will keep improving.
-------Alright, that in mind the whole zombie blood stuff on the show drives me crazy. People have open wounds and literally smear zombie blood on said wounds. The hell is with that?

lol! So true...
Re: The Walking Dead tv series
I agree, the characters have made a lot of stupid choices. It's the reason that, of all the shows I watch, this is actually my least favorite. But, I don't think action is the solution. I think better writing and more logical characters is. I don't think it's that crazy that Carl could wander off into the woods. The fact that he showed up at the barn when Rick was going to kill Randall was. When he dragged Carl back to the campsite I was thinking, it's dark. Your husband is about to murder someone, and your son has a tendency to want to be involved in everything. How'd they lose him then?
And they actually already got kicked off the farm. . . But, there staying anyway?
But overall, I still liked the most recent episodes since they tackled some interesting issues while having characters do stupid things. Whereas other episodes have just been people doing stupid things.
