I never hit a level cap in the Turbo CD Ys I, which perplexed me. Turns out you're not supposed to, as it's transferred into part II. So I began Ys II at level 36.

last two bosses were fun to learn. I've really taken to the series. There are some requirements that seem odd and unintuitive, but that's the fun in playing such an old rpg like this.

We might as well go on with Ys Book II. It's only March 3rd.

only took me 3 tries to kill the last boss... after I figured out I should try different equipment. So yeah. I think the bat boss was the hardest actually. Anyway. I'm done, and it was awesome. Will leave further thoughts in Games Beaten thread. :D

As you've probably observed, Ys is one of those "save anywhere" game, no save points.

Well my stupid ass saves the game right on the spot where an enemy who can kill me in one hit happens to spawn. Yeah, so every time I reload the save: instant death. I went through this about about 30-40 times trying everything I could: tapping right/left/right/down as soon as the game loads, opening to menu screen real quick to try to heal or maybe equip different armor. Nope: still died immediately.

Then I bring up my password (the Turbo CD version also has that option) and go to the password screen. I try for about half an hour to figure out which part of the password contains Adol's coordinates, hoping that I can reload the game just a few pixels away and not get owned... No luck (these passwords are huge).

Finally I simply reload the game again and miraculously wiggle my way out this mess. No idea how I did it, but I just wasted about an hour of play time. Thank God I didn't have to start all over, I'd be some pissed off.

Moral of the story: save in doorways, clear hallways, etc. And save when you have plenty of health. And make multiple save files!

Anyway, back to the game....
The same exact thing just happened to *me*. Those stupid gold statues put me back right on the same square an ENEMY happened to be on and with my low end HP killed me right on the spot. I basically wasted 30-45 minutes to only go back to where I ended up the first night I played this.

Will do all that AGAIN, tomorrow. If this game really has everyone beating it in 3 days, I'm sure another night's worth of repeat progress won't set me back too far.

Ok, so I started the Tower of Doom for reals. It's huge but my frustration levels are pretty low.

After around two hours I got stuck at the room with all the teleports. I'll try to finish the game tomorrow.

ExedExes doesn't quit!

Went back and SAVED and did everything again. Took down the Millipede at Level 10 by literally running circles around it. It stood no chance. The first book of Ys has been captured, the Volume Hadal!

Fun in the mines tomorrow-later today!

yeah I'd say that big room with the mirrors was really the most frustrating part of the tower.
