Yeah, I'm sure G.rev "doesn't give a shit" about us, with all their releasing games for a niche fanbase and supporting the Dreamcast after it's death shenanigans. Of course they give a shit about their customers. You have good reason to be frustrated but if the port really pisses you off that bad just ignore it and play the DC version as normal.
Ok, you seem to think that this port is the first thing that Grev has screwed up. They made such drastic changes to the Senko no Ronde Duo port that the game was uncomparable to the original. It pissed many people off. Strania was delayed over and over, and even the end product left a lot to be desired, although this was their best release in a long time. Marumo-kun was made unplayable to anyone who cares about scoring (most of this niche fanbase), and now UD, a game that had already had a great release, is messed up in many ways that will affect the way the game was originally designed to be played.
You think I'm pissed at the port, but all I'm doing is stating facts. For some reason, a few people here are getting defensive at these facts, and I really don't get it.
Sure, I could just go play the dc port, but that has nothing to do with this port. Its not a sequel, its a port, and its wrong. If this doesn't bother you, fine, but complaints are valid. I have little reason to have a DC hooked up to a 3:4 monitor, and I was looking forward to having UD to go along with all the Cave ports and Raiden Fighters when I stick my 360 in a candy cab.
Honestly, this has reached the point of stupidity, that I should just be ok with whatever we get just because its a niche genre, and that I should just support whatever crap gets released.
Btw, Grev only makes shmups because thats what they do. They aren't martyring their profit margin to please us all (obviously, by this port), they just want money, and this is how they get it. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad that the people that owkred on G Darius decided to continue doing what they love, but the fact is, this is a full retail release. It shouldn't be this bad.
It seems that because a few of us find this release sub-par, its causing those of you who are ok with it to become quite irate, and if you really are ok with this release, then I don't understand it.
its one thing to say that the port is not comparable to the DC port, but I can't even compare scores with people PLAYING THIS SAME GAME because they fucked up TATE, giving it 50% more slowdown.
Honestly, I just wanted to contribute some facts to this thread. it seems to have had a negative effect, so I'll stop. I guess from now on, insteae of sharing information and talking like a community, I'll just ignore bad ports and never talk about them in the appropriate thread.

Enemies not on the screen still shoot at you. This may seem minor, but its not, and that horizontal screen enemy cancelling is used in late game to avoid some enemies. This will no doubt make the game much harder.
I don't TATE, so this one is the deal breaker for me. Why they couldn't just do a perfect port is beyond me, and this seems like an inexcusable fuck up that will change the BASIC scoring and challenge of the game. It essentially means you can't compare DC and PS3/360 scores and that the PS3/360 port will be a SIGNIFICANTLY different experience than the original, even in Arcade mode. The fact that there are problems with the arrange mode is annoying as well, as that was the other incentive to buy the game.
yes, the ports are incomparable. Due to the TATE slowdown, seperate scoreboards would be necessary for Yoko and TATE, even in the same port, and then those both would be incomparable to the Naomi and DC ports. Honestly, everything else aside, if I can't compare scores with others playing the same game, then I have no reason to buy it.
This, to me, would be like buying a 2p fighter and never playing it 2p because the 2p function is broken. For some people, this wouldn't be an issue. For most fighting game fans, thats a deal breaker. I don't see how this is any different.
