Skies of Arcadia

Post by fox099 »

I just got a dreamcast and love RPGs. I was wondering what people though of Skies of Arcadia, or are there better RPGs for the dreamcast than it?

You'll be hard pressed to find a better RPG than Skies of Arcadia on any console. Though there is an expanded version for the gamecube you might consider too. Grandia 2 is a must play though, the PS2 version sucks.

Skies of Arcadia is a great RPG it's one of my personal favorites. I know most people don't like this game but another good one is Time Stalkers.

I agree, Skies and Grandia 2 are must play RPG's on the DC. You could try EGG, its a sort of SNES Zelda-ish and interesting. Shenmue has rpg elements and is adventure/exploration based. There isn't really anything else great RPG wise worth your time unless you can read Japanese.

I know someone suggested Time Stalkers....but I think that game was a waste of time. Evolution 1 & 2 are ok at best, i'd recomend it if you like dungeon crawlers or you're a fan of the Dark Cloud series. hmmm..what else is there. Phantasy Star online was cool, but without the online capabilities it's not worth it. Just check out the PS2 version instead. This is a big reason why I sold my DC the first time, I was a huge RPG fan and there was just nothing to keep me interested.

Skies of Arcadia and Grandia 2 were the main reasons I got a DC. Both are great games.

If you want to play Skies of Arcadia on the DC, buy it, ISO rips are no good. They lag quite a bit while loading (compression on the discs) and they don't work on the VGA box (the Echelon rip is of a PAL version, which never supported the VGA box for some reason)

Best RPG EVER

When it came out Grandia was getting the Hype, but something about the concept made me try Skies first, and it was the best choice I had made in a somewhat under the radar game since a video game store clerk on Nassau Street in NYC tiped me off to the 1st Tenchu on PS1.

Skies and Lunar: The Silver Star (Sega CD) are my two fav rpgs of all time, and yes I played FF7

Flying pirates. Whats not to love? Definately my favourite RPG.

If given one wish, I would wish for my own Delphinus.

Just bought Grandia 2 myself. Seems good so far.
God damn I hate the internet.
