Can... can someone fill me in on this NHL 94-12 stuff? Like, for reals? O_O

Also, Breetai, that's pretty damned impressive. I've been heavily considering, lately, starting a real collection of NHL titles (not only because it would be pretty cheap to complete, for the most part ;)), have you ever looked in to tracking down copies of the European versions of NHL games? They don't include any NHL teams, instead it's based on European leagues, and are basically just team/roster change overs and translated into Swedish, Finnish and I think maybe there are a couple of other games too.

NHL 94 is definitely my favorite.

I also have NHL 06 for PS2 which plays beautifully and has an emulated version of 94 as a bonus. :D
The ROM is over at www.pixelpuck.com

I :h: my repro cart of this game. It's beautiful. Will be putting together something for the site soon on it.

Did you make it yourself? What kind of hardware is required to get the rom on the cart?

I used a guy over at the forums on nhl94.com. I'm out of my element when it comes to rom mapping and reproduction carts.

Here is the link to the guy making and selling the repro carts on the NHL94 forums.

The pictures I posted earlier in the thread were taken with the camera on my phone of the game being played on my sega genesis.

I have no idea how to put the roms on a cart myself, but I would recommend the guy selling them for sure if anyone else was interested. Both retrosportsgamer and myself purchased a copy from him.

I thought I would revisit this thread since I recently found a pawn shop two towns over with multiple copies of every sports game from the last decade. I picked out the best quality copies they had and completed my retro EA NHL collection for $2 per game ($12 total). Assuming we consider the PlayStation versions as the canon version, of course. And we might as well.

I've never managed to get this darn thing to work, but I love the way it looks and consider at least one pong console to be essential in anyone's retro collection.
Some collectors actually like to play the games they own :| I think it's sort of hypocritical to say something like "every collectors must own this" if the one you own is essentially just a piece of furniture. Disregard that if you own a working pong console.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

Well, I don't and you're right. It is hypocritical. We all have our flaws. But I still feel like my collection is more reflective of video game history (which is a thing I like and a subject I have strong interest in) with a pong clone in it than it would be without it. And there are tons of people from all walks of life that can appreciate the history and beauty of a "piece of furniture" without ever using it. You ever seen the value of antique chairs, hutches and dressers on Antiques Roadshow? I still pull this thing out and get just as much enjoyment out of looking at it and pondering it's provenance than I would if I could play it.

Anyway, do you like hockey games?
