Is Daryl still Team Rick? Seems more like he's starting to fall apart at the seams. It started when he hallucinated about his brother, then Sophia kind of gave him some sort of direction but now it seems he's given up hope. He's probably back to his old self (or maybe merle could come back and he's gonna side with him). I couldn't see him falling in with Shane, though (for one thing, Shane's got T-Dog with him. and from the start, Shane's always been the one who was very strict with him. I could see him being more tolerant of Rick.)

Sorry for going off tangent, but I am fascinated with Daryl's character. The show is perfectly clear with him and his brother, they seem to embody the traits that people think of when the term "redneck" or "hick" is used as a straightforward derision, but the series also shows that Daryl can be caring and willing to go out of his way to help his companions, but was this empathic side always been with him, or did it just develop due to the current setup (meaning, if there is no zombie apocalypse and life is normal, will he still be emphatic to people who are not part of his immediate family)

Shane is on the slightly opposite side. The flashbacks of his interactions with Rick show that he is a nice guy and he really cares about Rick (technically, if it wasn't for him, Rick would not be around right now. He still cared enough to block the door to Rick's hospital room instead of just running the fuck away), but the current situation is bringing out the worst in him.

I waS NOT expecting that, and man that was an awesome scene. My guess would've been that they leave the bar and eventually follow 'em to the farm.
My take on that was that the gangsta's were using the "take out the leader and you will be crowned the new leader" method, but Rick was too smart for it.

After reading the comic book series of issues#1-90, I'm interested to see how much of the storyline they will follow. You also kid of view the tv series in a little differently after doing this. There's some crazy things that go down and even one in particular that I can't see them pulling off on tv. We shall see I guess.

I loved the 2nd half of the season premier though! 8)

I like the little touches in the show that I notice. I rewatched the last episode today, and the rebel flag in the background. I know some people might get it, but a little bar in the middle of nowhere isn't the same without some kind of flag, whether its state, Confederate, or American. Its just a great touch.

Another great episode.

I can never understand how people like Shane, he has yet to do anything that I like. He came close when he beat that guy for hitting his wife but even then he went so over the top it was a bit scary to think how far he would go. Well, we all know how far that is. The dude is delusional and dangerous no question. He is like that slowly going insane King who constantly has a good conspiracy ready for why he had to burn that whole town down.

Tonight really showed how different Shane and Rick are. In a crisis scenario, Rick thinks about keeping everyone alive. Also, unlike Shane, Rick is not the type to leave someone for dead.

and to anyone who still doesn't think Shane is crazy and delusional. He thinks Lori and him still have something, while she's putting thoughts into Rick's head of murdering Shane. I also think Shane and Andrea are paranoid, another thing I don't like about them. Always worrying about something bad happening instead of just focusing on what actually IS happening. The barn is a good example and Shane did more harm than good when he opened it and shot the walkers. Look how much he fractured the group. Idiot. Rick deals with things as they come and he always makes the moral choice. I'd rather follow a guy like that than a dumb, delusional dick like Shane

Spoiler-o's ahead:

Now that Rick isn't afraid to
kill people at the drop of a hat
we actually have some character progression that has been seriously lacking in previous episodes. He still continues to leave his family behind, which will undoubtedly
end to Lori's death
.

And any fan of the comic is asking themselves
will Rick's son end up killing Shane, or will it be Rick, or maybe even Lori?
The show has strayed so far from the comic that anything is possible at this point.

Great to see two back to back excellent episodes. My only gripe would be that oh dear Lord there is WAY too much eye acting. I think the new writers are doing great, but I imagine the script at some times reads as:

Rick
Looks at Lori, raises left eyebrow

Lori
Looks at Rick, raises both eyebrows

Rick
Nods. Closes eyes

Lori
Nods. Eyes look skyward

Rick
Opens eyes, looks in the distance, sees Shane

Shane
Looks at Rick with an intense glare

Rick
Looks at Shane, looks at Lori

Lori
Looks at Rick, looks at Shane

Shane
Looks at Lori, looks back at Rick

Rick, Shane and Lori
All look at their feet
