Phantasy Star IV: The Return of Alis
Supposedly the original plans for Phantasy Star IV were to have it be a giant Sega CD game with voice-acting, FMV, and a story centered around the original Phantasy Star protagonist, Alis.

Phantasy Star IV was my favorite of the series and is one of the best RPGs I've played. But the fact that the original version was supposed to be BIGGER and possibly better makes me want it SO MUCH. I hope Sega someday decides to make another single player Phantasy Star game...

Hellraiser - ok so Color Dreams has an awful track record and this game probably would have sucked, but the collector in me can't help but see shitty games like Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street and wish the superior horror film had at least gotten as crappy of a game as those others did.

Resident Evil 3.5 - No, not what got turned into Devil May Cry. I'm talking about the crazy poltergeist Resident Evil footage you can find on Youtube. It looks more like a Silent Hill game than a Resident Evil one, and man do I not like RE4. So win/win if this one had been released.

Destiny of an Emperor II - Yeah this likely would have stayed in Japan if it had been released, but still. Loved the original game.

System Shock 2 (Dreamcast) - Out of all the cancelled Dreamcast games, this one really intrigues me. I don't care if I need to use the keyboard and mouse (I have em), I just don't play games on the PC so this would have been great for me.

WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?! I can't believe I didn't know about this. I'm a big RE fan and of course know about RE 1.5 but had never heard of 3.5 before! This game looks amazing. It looks like the RE game we all want to play since RE5 went all balls to the wall. Although, I'm not sure how I feel about black spirit monster things though. Where does this take place, The Spencer Mansion? Wow.

I really wished Hellraiser happened too.

(PS, Nightmare on Elm Street is not a shitty game. At all.)

There were several attempts at making RE4, including what ended up being Devil May Cry and then that weird ghost thing. There were actually a couple other ideas that got far enough along for there to be gameplay footage of. RE4, to me, could have been a great game if the horror part had been cranked up a bit. As it is, it's just way too much of an action game with nothing truly scary (closest has to be the chainsaw dude they ripped off from Splatterhouse).

As for Elm Street not being shitty (to respond to noise), I found the controls to be frustrating with way too many enemies on screen at the same time (if the controls were more responsive or if it was quicker to kill them this wouldn't be a problem), and, worse, they just didn't use the license that well. Say what you want about Friday the 13th the game, but at least it's teenagers in the woods next to a lake being terrorized by a dude in a hockey mask. (So ok, this like the third or fourth movie, but still.) Fighting snakes, spiders and zombies has nothing to do w/ the Elm Street license.

but at the same time F13 also had a bunch of random zombies after you, which had nothing to do with the movies. At least the NOES game used an alternate dream world, and the concept of dream warriors (the ninja, wizard, jock) so that was actually really awesome. Either way, I like both of those games more than most "normal" people. But NOES is one of my favorite NES games of all time.

That's why I said I didn't consider either to be that good. But I think zombies make more sense in F13 than a bunch of random stuff makes sense in Elm Street. I feel the same way playing NoES as I do playing Wally Bear. Why does everything want to kill this guy? Where are all these snakes coming from? If they had just done a dream world, it would at least make some amount of sense. But even so, I could live w/ it if the game didn't just toss them all at you at once (and give your character such a slow attack).

At any rate, I doubt Hellraiser would have been even as good as either of those games, but still, it would have looked sweet in the box.
