I'm pretty sure used game buyers do not "pay the salaries" of those in the industry.
Really? Because I buy games used means I don't buy other games new, Steam, DLC, or their hardware?

And it's great to talk crap about your fans. Genius business choice!

He is completely right. If your buying a used game or pirating it then you have no right to complain to them because they are not getting your money. (Don't get me wrong I am not saying buying used games is the same as stealing but I am saying that either way they don't get your money.)

It's odd how they throw around the words "obligation", "rights", etc. I mean, I have the right to do a lot of things, that doesn't mean I should exercise my right.

I have the right to be a dick to everyone around me; I shouldn't be one, though.

Companies such as Valve are under no "obligation" to tell whatever the hell is happening to their fans. Wouldn't it be nice if they did, however? No one will point guns at their foreheads if they don't say anything, but it'd sure be cool of them to show this regard to their fans.

No, but it means they don't care about your used purchases. That's money that could have been spent on a new game that they actually see a return on.

Gamers need to lighten up. I love to hobby as much as anyone but it's just video games.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Lifetime ban.

I'm shocked that the price of video games hasn't really changed in what, 30 years? If I'm on pricing strategy, I add in the cost that the game will be re-sold. I also add a lot of "1 time use only" codes like ones that are featured in Arkham City and other new releases.

Gamerforlife wrote: Also, the Valve thing, fans SHOULD be doing something. Valve promised something to players and then just ignored it for what? Three or four years? I'm not a huge HL fan, but to go completely silent about the series when you clearly set up the ending of HL 2 Episode 2 as a cliff hanger is kind of dickish and it seems like that group of fans is being pretty nice and polite about it

If no one bought used games, there would be less money to be had by those exchanging games to get a new one. With less new games purchased, the industry would slump.

Now, I'm not one to say the customer is always right, but pissing off customers repeatedly can't be a good thing. There is such a thing as a dead video game company. And then the sales - they'll piss off their customers and then complain that sales are down due to piracy. What a load of bullshit.
