We all like to bitch and moan, but the recent "Request for Communication" from Valve fanboys was borderline pathetic.

Yeah, politely requesting a company to at least tell its fans what's going on with the franchise they love is absolutely too much. Who do these paying customers think they are?

They have paid for the previous games though. The whole point of it was to play Half-Life 2 to show Valve they still care.

I don't know why that's so objectionable. If anything, Valve should be thankful they have fans that care this much. True, they don't have any "rights" to have their way, but I don't see the abuse in asking what's going on.

There are far worse examples of the gamer entitlement culture out there.

Blah, blah, blah, we're against players expressing their opinions. That's those two articles in a nutshell. It's called freedom of speech. Players can rant, protest or do whatever the hell they want. Are developers so weak and pathetic that they can't handle it when people say what's on their mind? I know the internet fan community can be annoying at times. I bitch about it from time to time, but these articles seem to be overreacting

Also, the Valve thing, fans SHOULD be doing something. Valve promised something to players and then just ignored it for what? Three or four years? I'm not a huge HL fan, but to go completely silent about the series when you clearly set up the ending of HL 2 Episode 2 as a cliff hanger is kind of dickish and it seems like that group of fans is being pretty nice and polite about it

I think people have every right to ask a company when the game is coming out. Just like the company has every right to tell people to stuff it.

What is it with the gaming industry trying to vilify the very people paying their salaries lately? First vilifying those that buy games used, and now this. This is a good way to shoot themselves in the foot and turn fans away.

I'm pretty sure used game buyers do not "pay the salaries" of those in the industry.
