i think the only thing a cable needs to be is gold plated and oxygen free.

Awesome infographic man. That's right, any HDMI cable will do. Get the el cheapos, there's absolutely no difference when it's a digital signal.

That is because it is a analog signal. Analog signals can be improved by better materials (such as gold plating), better shielding etc etc.

True in most cases, but not totally true. There are different HDMI standards so you need one that meets the specs for its intended application. ;)

I've been happy with Amazon cables. They're actually cheaper than Monoprice if you have Prime and you're only buying 1-2 cables. If you're buying more (e.g, 5), then monoprice is probably the way to go.

I'm bumping this thread because if you buy cables, you should test them as soon as you get them. I ordered some HDMI cables a couple of months ago and finally got around to using them just recently. It turns out that one of the cable is bad (video/sound artifacting). Amazon is sending me a replacement cable and a return label for the old one.

So make sure that you test your cables when you get them!
