Think about it, Bases Loaded and Tecmo Super Bowl are still classics, but can you find anyone who gives a crap about Madden '09?
THANK YOU. That is PRECISELY the point I tried to drive home with this top 10. I think that attempting to deliver ultra-realistic content in sports games does little other than guarantee that you'll be obsolete and forgotten in a year.

And isn't one of the greatest things about video games that you can transcend reality?
The fact that I can occasionally be convinced to play Blades of Steel and enjoy myself when I'm not into sports games at all is a testament to how great the game is.

I don't think any of the new sports games aged well.

I assume Baseball Stars 2 doesn't count?

Anyway, I still enjoy Double Dribble despite it being kind of basic.

The Canucks have never used those colours in a uniform.

They currently use green, blue and white. Their original NHL uniforms were also those colours. At the time when Blades of Steel came out, their uniform was black, yellow.
Better still [in NHL '94], you get to enjoy all this realism in four different modes: regular season, playoffs, best of seven playoffs, and shoot-out.
NHL '94 has no regular season mode.

I'm also not sure why you didn't include all consoles various games were released on. Yeah, you had Kunio-kun Dodgeball as being on the FC, NES, PCE and SFC, but neglected to mention that NHL '94 was also on the SNES (also SFC) and Sega CD in addition to the Sega Genesis/MD. You mentioned that Blades of Steel was on the FDS, but didn't mention that Tecmo Super Bowl also made it to the FC in Japan. NBA Jam: TE was on other consoles, such as the 32X, Saturn and PS1.

Nice reads, but there are definitely some inaccuracies and inconsistencies that I thought I'd let you know about.

Thanks for the close read, and the comments. I'll definitely fix those errors next time I update things.

I honestly do enjoy reading your stuff! Hopefully you don't think I'm completely ripping you apart. Punch-Out!! also came out in Japan, although I am not sure of the details. I never came across it there except the gold version for hundreds of dollars. There may have been a regular release, but I'm not sure. Mike Tyson was not in the gold cart version, so it technically isn't "Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!."

No problem at all, my friend, one of the reasons I like this site so much is that I get so much great feedback on things. Punch-Out!! is so much cooler when the final boss is the real deal instead of some lame filler like Mr. Dream.

True, but the one without is cheaper. Therefore, it's the one I have now. :D I'll upgrade to the older release if I find it for cheap.

At least my copy of Revenge of Shinobi is the one with Spiderman and Godzilla. :)
