Have any 8/16 Bit Sports Games Aged Well?

Post by timewarpgamer »

Seems like this genre has especially been hurt by the passage of the years. What do you think? The only games I can think of that are still really playable are:

Blades of Steele (NES)
NBA Jam (Genesis and SNES)
NHL '94 (Genesis)
Pete Sampras Tennis (SNES)

Also, can't really think of any Sega Master System of TurboGrafx-16 sports games that were EVER good. Not to mention held up over the years...

Baseball Simulator 1000 for the NES

I loved this game and sunk so many hours into it years ago. I just recently fired it back up on NesterDC (thanks Flak Beard!) and before I realized it, 3 hours had passed...

Mutant League series and the Kunio-sports (which includes Super Dodgeball) games are ones I've always loved.

I'll throw in a second vote for NBA Jam.

Another vote goes out to NBA Jam. That game will always be fun.
Greatest Heavyweights on Genesis has also held up pretty well.

I still play tecmo superbowl.
I played NBA Jam during the NBA All-Star stuff this past weekend, and every summer I pull out Baseball Stars for my NES.
