Who here remembers Descent 1 and 2?

Great games indeed. The controls took a bit to get used, and the game is the worst I've ever played when it comes to getting motion sickness (I never got it in "usual" FPSs, but the full 3D and no horizontal reference, ouch).

The core escape part was indeed very cool as well.

Not sure if I'm remembering right, but did descent have a shareware release?

I'm a Mac user so mine were published by MacPlay. Descent 2 is now sold on GameTap, but the better version is D2X-XL, which has all sorts of graphics upgrades.
