It has been a loong time since I have played the PS1 version. I havent gotten that far yet on the PSP or I would give you some pointers. I do have the strat guide, but as I have forgot a bunch of stuff, I dont want to respoil it if that makes sense...
I get that. It seems like in the "What RPG are you playing now?" thread that a lot of people had completed this, so I guess I thought there'd be some recommendations. I guess the "when in doubt, grind" philosophy might be best...

That would be my guess honestly. Thats usually the formula for these if it is beyond winnable. Sometimes a strategy or unit composition change up. Though, you can break the game basically with some certain spells that make it kind of easy. I remember petrify being very good when you put it on the warlock guy or if you have deneb.
@ds: That honestly sound very low to me for the final battles, I just checked and my party seems to be close to 30. Yeah... not sure what else to say, lol.
