Remember when I said comic books were dying?
Re: Remember when I said comic books were dying?
To everyone defending this: enjoy your burning shitpile. Obviously I'm being hyperbolic about all print media dying, but your two pillars of excess are nothing more than a creative sinkhole with no respect to the 50+ years of classics that they are built upon. Even if they do make it out of this pit they're in right now, they will always be a mere shadow of their former selves, and this is the final nail in the coffin for me.

Interesting* that the same fans who cry foul at Lucas for raping his works for a profit are so eager to defend this....

I'm not a Star Wars fan, modifying a very important movie is not the same as writting a sequel for it or remaking it and those works sucked donkey balls before as much as they do now.sabrage wrote:Interesting* that the same fans who cry foul at Lucas for raping his works for a profit are so eager to defend this....

Those books ain't just for ladies, bud!Gamerforlife wrote:
It's not like no one's trying. There's plenty of adult material out there from Vertigo. Plus, there are great books out there for females like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel & Faith(emphasis on Faith)

Got any? Me neither, as none have been made in my lifetime. Is it any surprise the industry is in the can?

Right there with you, I'm actually reading all of those myself. I think they work well for both genders. What's interesting is how most of those books are written by dudes. I think Batgirl is the only woman centric book I'm reading that's actually written by a womanNintendork666 wrote:Those books ain't just for ladies, bud!Gamerforlife wrote:

*shrug* Marvel and DC can do what they want with their superheros.
I'm still going to happily read Usagi Yojimbo and Hellboy whenever new issues come out. Even though I haven't read any currently-running titles by the company, Avatar has published a considerable number of high-quality comics.
And it's not like Alan Moore has dropped out of the comics industry entirely, he's still doing great work; it's just not as visible.

I dunno, did you read his Lovecraft miniseries? The first one was poor at best, but the end of the second one was disgusting. I couldn't read it anymore.Nemoide wrote: And it's not like Alan Moore has dropped out of the comics industry entirely, he's still doing great work; it's just not as visible.

Coincidentally, I've always hated Batgirl. Original female comic characters, like Wonder Woman or Cat Woman, are always better than girl versions of popular male superheroes.Gamerforlife wrote:Right there with you, I'm actually reading all of those myself.
