It might take a week, it might take a month, but sooner or later you'll be feeling fine about your games again.

I'm honestly doing the same thing right now. Aside from playing a demo the other night, I haven't touched my games in nearly a month. It was building all through December as I played less and less, and I'm off games entirely right now. Its happened before, it'll happen again.
Same here. I was going strong for a while, but now I find myself thinking "I want to play something, but I don't know what to play." Because everything just feels so "forced". I use my recently lowered attention span as an excuse, but I just find it harder and harder to sit down and play a game like I used to be able to for hours on end. Maybe I just haven't found the right game to spend a lot of hours on, I don't know. But I don't like it, and it's part of the reason why I'm trying to part with some of my collection, kind of in hopes of enjoying what I have a little more. I don't want to collect just to collect, something about that just doesn't feel right.
I have had one of these phases before, where I honestly thought I could just be done with it and then something else sparked my interest. I guess I'm waiting for that to happen again. It's good to know I'm not the only one who feels this way though.

I figured it out. I played a linear game today, and it made a huuuge difference. Its the collectables and open world that is getting me. I've never been a big fan of collectables, but I know I like open world games... part of the problem I think is the blander enviroments and meh combat on Skyrim. But the Special edition... I somewhat wish I hadn't jumped on it full force...

Money is also a big issue right now...

heh, i was so into Banjo-Kazooie when it came out, it's like the only game i played for 3 months, and i got 100% completion with it twice.

That happens to me constantly, and not just when it comes to games. I do that with movies and books too. I'll find myself with a couple of hours to spare and think, "Huh. I've got enough time for a movie. Which one should I pick?" Then I spend so much time looking through everything that by the time I settle on something, I've run out of time to watch it :?

Sometimes I find if I just force myself to start something, like a book or a game, than I'll actually get into it and end up absorbed for a couple hours.

Other times though I just end up going "Meh" and end up watching CNN or Southpark re-runs

Take a break, man. You can get burned out on gaming just like anything else. There was the longest time I didn't want to play anything this year...so I didn't! I played frisbee, read books, and wrote murder mysteries. And I had a good time of it too! Then I picked up Ace Combat 5 by chance and got totally engrossed in it.

Really big games or really complex games, or just having a lot to choose from, can get overwhelming to the point that you don't even want to try. In that case, don't. When you feel like it, just pick a good one and start playing. Remember that the whole idea is to have fun ;)

I think over the course of 4 years I've made like 3 threads about how I was feeling burnt out on gaming.

It'll pass, but for me at least, I've found that collecting and owning a nice big stack of carts just doesn't have the same allure as it used too, and that was the source of most of my burnout. I love playing my small GoG collection on my PC though.

It's honestly a bit... upsetting realizing that I don't really retro game all that much anymore. I've kept a Genesis and Saturn around, but that's it.

Perhaps you should evaluate what kind of gaming makes you happy and keeps you interested. I think you've posted some "should I buy x console" threads in the past. Try and find what makes you happy instead of asking us. Only you can answer for yourself if X is worth keeping and Z is worth buying. :)

Also FWIW. I don't care much for completely open games either. I used to love things like Morrowind and Oblivion, but not so much anymore. You're not alone.

I'm going to keep Skyrim and the Batman games from now, I think it is a case where I just lost the mood. I tried playing the Bayonetta demo, and I had a pretty big change in attitude.

Another problem I seem to have is the overwhelming feeling that there is just too many games available. The other problem to go along with this, is deciding what console to get them on. I don't guess it matters, but I currently have a 360 and would prefer to keep most of my games on a BC PS3 I would buy, but I'm not sure that will be happening.

And then there's the question of whether certain games will get ported to the Wii U or whatever it gets renamed, or if I should wait. I'd love to see Bioshock on Nintendo Consoles...

I agree with this. For several months about a year ago, I was doing very little gaming. I didn't get out of it, or sell my collection, though. I spent my time and money collecting DVDs instead. Eventually, my interest in games picked back up again (largely thanks to indie games.)

I get burned out on EVERYTHING all the time.

I just finally got out of a good near 6 month slump where I didn't really bother with music for the most part at all. Feels nice to get my guitar back out feeling refreshed.

I've done this with gaming too. Just find another hobby for now, you'll come back to it.

Okay guys, a question I have.

Where could I sell my Collector's Edition of Skyrim for a decent price? I've gotten a decent amount of fun out of it (~50 hours), but I still don't want to get ripped off. I was hoping to ~ 100 dollars, but I could go down. If I could get a straight up trade for 2-3 games, I would be happy with that too. What do you guys suggest? My retro game guys, who usually really hook me up, said $34 dollars store credit...
