And whilst looking for that interview I mentioned where a Cave guy said they were going to stick with the 360, I found this instead:

that's possibly exciting...
"Other platforms" includes not just home game systems, but smart phones too. He believes that it's important to expand the user base as much as possible on a variety of platforms.
^that was what I was getting at.

360 came out first. Microsoft gives incentives for Cave to publish games on the 360. Cave learns the 360 architecture. Cave is now unwilling to learn how to put games on the PS3.
I think it goes both ways.. Sony made no efforts nor was interested either..

Hate to be a pain, but it just seems to me that all shmups these days are "bullet hell" and they are not the most enjoyable games to sit down to, wtb some good old 90's shmups where you arent twitching by the end of a session.

On a lighter note, i wish Otomedius Excellent was on the PS3, even though it's review were so-so.

Now admittedly there are some shmups on PSN, but I am curious -- why the intense lack of them on PS3? It's just kind of odd to me that publishers putting them out just completely avoid the console altogether for this single genre. I mean PS1 and PS2 had really good shmup libraries. So what happened? I find it even more curious considering that the 360 is all but dead in Japan.
Sadly, this doesn't only apply to shmups. Other niche genres and titles have settled into the 360's library while the PS3 has remained largely ignored. In some cases the titles may be released as digital downloads available to the 360's worldwide audience, but the disc based releases remain difficult to obtain.

It's kind of a sick joke that this generation we finally have a region free console that anyone can easily obtain (PS3) and I'm hard pressed to find games worth importing from Japan.

like what? I can't think of any other genre that's under-represented on PS3 while abundant on 360?

360 seems to have the Treasure market cornered as well.. Guardian Heroes anyone? Although some people claim moneyhatting..

PSN has Gunstar. Besides, a single Deveper is different than an entire genre. I'm not sure that's having a market "cornered."

Anyway, here's a list of PS3 imports I mentioned in another thread a while ago. I'm also planning to pick up Under Defeat HD and a physical copy of Battle Fantasia...
Red Seeds Profile - aka Deadly Premonition. All audio is in English.

Mamoru-kun - overhead shooter a la Pocky & Rocky.

Arcana Heart 3 - for those that prefer physical media.

Monkey Island: Special Edition - again for those that prefer physical, this is the 2 PSN re-releases. Released in Europe.

Siren: New Translation - another physical import, but the PSN version was HUGE so this makes more sense to import. English subtitles.

Aquanaut's Holiday: Hidden Memories - fans of the PS1 title will be thrilled to see an HD sequel... in English.

Destroy All Humans: Path of Furon - a sequel to the PS2 game (in English).

Gal Gun - another shooter, so language isn't a barrier.

Initial D Extreme Stage - crazy arcade racing, so again language isn't a big issue.

Metal Gear Online - want another Metal Gear game? It's in English.

Nura: Rise of the Yokoi Clan - a 2D fighter from Aksys. Who needs a story for a 2D fighter? Not me.

...I'm sure there's more. These are just ones I can think of right now.

Some more just for fun I guess

Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan!
Way of the Samurai 4
Warriors Orochi Z
Saint Seiya Senki
Gundam Extreme VS
Gundam Senki 0081
Boku no Natsuyasumi 3
Resident Evil Revival Selection
Wipeout HD/Fury
Monster Hunter Portable 3rd HD

Probably more I'm not thinking of.
