Re: Need to be Brought up to Speed / Modern Gaming
Sigh...
Early on the 360 had better exclusives like halo and gears of war that set it up nicely. I also thing xbl is the best online service, even though you pay for it.
Other personal things, such as controller preference is there for me. Also, from my experience the majority of cross platform games are better on 360, as many seemed to be made for the 360 natively and ported to the PS3, not taking advantage of its hardware. 360 also has an incredible xbla library of indie games.
I also love my PS3, I was just defending the 360. I think they are pretty close in value, you just have to decide what factors matter to you most and line those up with the consoles strengths.
I also take exception with ford trucks, I think they are the best of the group. 80s and 90s american cars sucked for the most part, but in the last decade their quality and maintenance records have been very good. But that's besides te point.

Haha well I was just kidding about the Ford trucks bro. I have two in the barn that still run and one is a '56 F-100.
I dig the 360, just like the other consoles better. The big-name 360 exclusives (Halo, Gears of War) don't excite me much, but I love some of the shooters and JRPGs. Western RPGs I would rather just play on the PC, as long as they're relatively free of DRM.

Re: Need to be Brought up to Speed / Modern Gaming
I find that I tend to get multiplayer games on 360 and single player on PS3, and that's mostly so my online friends dnt bother me if I am playing single player. I also of course, try to research on which platform the game is better. I also prefer PC for certain games, WRPGs I almost always get on PC.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Haha well I was just kidding about the Ford trucks bro. I wasn't annoyed or anything on the ford trucks thing, just bringing up a counter discussion point...

Re: Need to be Brought up to Speed / Modern Gaming
For modern stuff, I like PC the most. For a long time I kept telling myself that I would get a PS3, Wii, or XBox 360 someday, but then I just decided to update my PC again instead. Everytime I go to a store I see games for the PS3 and XBox360 that I have on my PC, except at the store they cost $59.99 and I downloaded mine on Steam for under $10.
Here's some modern stuff worth checking out that you should be able to find on most of the major platforms:
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Mass Effect series
Fallout 3
Portal and Portal 2
Half Life 2
These should give you a good sense of some of the best things modern gaming has to offer that feel like an advancement in gaming history.

JT, if I may be obliged:
I'm with JT all the way as far as the Pepsi challenge goes, but if you LOVE certain exclusives, purchase the system you need to play said certain titles. But yeah, a custom PC will usually conquer any console when it comes down to hardware.J T wrote:I like PC the most.

Ohhh man, I miss those Halo 2 parties. The Xbox replaced the N64 as a go-to party console when the Halo games were released.isiolia wrote:The original XBox was easily the stronger online/network multiplayer contender too.
Sorry. /off-topic ramblings...
Re: Need to be Brought up to Speed / Modern Gaming
While PC versions are usually preferable, if they exist, there really are quite a lot of games that aren't available for it. Also plenty that's only on PC.Luke wrote: I'm with JT all the way as far as the Pepsi challenge goes, but if you LOVE certain exclusives, purchase the system you need to play said certain titles. I'd say I like the PC the most as well, but there'd definitely be some console-only games I'd miss too (though obviously that'll depend some on individual tastes).

Because like you, it's just easy to type up a reply and let everyone else to the work for me.Luke wrote:Why not browse the forum you are posting on, or perhaps look online somewhere else or even make a venture to a store that sells video games?Radical Lanzar wrote:I've been under a rock for the last ten years, mostly taking care of life.
However, I'll be giving back to the community at some point; that's normally the way it works.
