What's your "main focus" when it comes to collecting?

Nice. I actually haven't done any atari gaming in my whole 22 years of living. The older atari stuff honestly just doesn't interest me that much although I can appreciate it. But if I ever got the chance I'd want to check out the Jaguar. Just because it's such an oddball. haha

The most painful part about owning a Jaguar is you soon realize that it really had the potential to succeed. At the time it's 2D capabilities were simply amazing. For example, Super Burnout is high resolution, smooth scaling, 60fps, and has up to 1000 sprites on screen at any one time and runs without a hiccup. Rayman is a similar story, just a beautiful game.

Instead, Atari decided to market it's poor 3D capabilities.

I just watched a great AVGN video on the Jaguar. Probably wouldn't recommend watching it if you actually wanted it, but he is lenient on some games. Coming from him it must mean something.

I have tried getting into collecting for the disc based systems, but it doesn't really do it for me. Cartridges all the way personally, and I'll make an exception for those sweet little gamecube discs.

I love cartridges too. They are built to last, unlike disc based games. This has drawn me more into portable gaming. The Vita is ditching the disc format and the 3DS continues with the cartridge format of its predecessors

You speak the truth. There's nothing quite like a pile of N64 games, and I have just got myself a GBA SP and being able to buy cartridges only on ebay is awesome for saving money. You can't just buy a disc on it's own (well you can), you need to have a case which pushes the value up a bit. If it's in a sturdy DVD case like the past generation, I don't mind as that looks nice on the shelf, but the delicate and fiddly PS1/Dreamcast cases and the vulnerable cardboard ones are a pain the ass!

I'm going to contradict my last post and say that I only really want all the 'Make My Video' games for the Mega CD.

Right now I'm focusing on Japanese Saturn games and PC Engine (HuCard and CD/Super CD).
I'm also going for every game complete (both US and Japan releases) for Bomberman, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Quest.

Main focus is games that I enjoy.

Secondary focusi:
NES games
Good Multiplayer Games
SNES games
SFC games

Typically if I find an NES game in the wild for under $5 I bite, even if I have it, unless it is trash. If I find it for under $1 I bite even if it is trash.

Same here, though with Hardware I occasionally buy ones that are also different or did not do well, for some reason I want a Atari Jaguar. Though lately I have been working mostly on my Sega consoles such as the saturn and Dreamcast, still buy for the others from time to time. Just bought Sonic Generations for the Xbox 360.

yeah it means that the fictional character's script was written to be lenient on some games.
