What's your "main focus" when it comes to collecting?
What's your "main focus" when it comes to collecting?
I know there's a thread for goals and such. But I'm just curious which systems are your favorites to collect for, if there is one (or more) that you mainly focus on and the others are just for a few games here and there. Like for me, I focus mainly on NES and N64 stuff but I want to start digging into the Genesis and Saturn library more. I have other consoles as you can see by my signature, but they are pretty much for a couple of games that I couldn't play on any other console, and not really for collecting purposes.

Mostly I just focus on games that I want to play. I do have a soft spot for hardware, though. So anytime I see a console or add-on that I don't already have, at a good price, I jump at it.

My main focus is Gamecube, which makes up over half of my collection. After that is GB/C/A stuff, and I dabble a bit in PS1/2 and Dreamcast.

anything nice and cheap I can get my grubby little hands on.
I do have a soft spot for NIS/Atlus.
Try to save my pennies for those. but you guys know that this company makes games that go up in value. Its hard to find these games sometimes.

To only buy games I have enjoyed in the past or think I will enjoy in the future and to buy them at a below average price, even if it means waiting awhile.
I don't like buying games just to have more games in my collection, if I am not going to play it, no point it taking up room on my shelf.

Re: What's your "main focus" when it comes to collecting?
Never really had a focus, just bought what I liked the look of at the time for a good price. I don't think I've ever really paid more than $10 for a game, with some exceptions (ie I really wanted a complete version of Shenmue, which I paid through the nose for).
Lately I've been looking into Japanese games though, which I have to get off the internet for obvious reasons.

I'd much rather have a small collection of some hard to find/unique and fun titles of a system.
Right now, I'm taking a heavy-handed approach to going after GBC titles. I just want to have a cool collection to take on a deployment.
