Noise: Ugh.. really sorry Noise.

EvilRyu2099: tick throwing is about frame advantage and ample position! The other 2 DO NOT! Jab, shorts recover about as fast as your opponents leave blockstun state thus it puts you prime position to then throw them as the opponent has left blockstun state as result of jab or short! That is an agressive (and often thought of as cheap). Throw teching or "softening" IS in fact Defensive!

THe purpose of tick throwing and kara throwing are more similar than the purpose of using Roll Cancel and Kara throw.. That's my point.. Both methods of executing Kara throwing and RCing are similar.. I never fucking argued that.. Execute=/= purpose/usage..
No they are not! With Kara roll'n and kara throwing, they have in common their structure in how the end result is an attack that takes on the properties of the move that was canceled.
Normal-CANCEL-Throw= a throw with forward movement from the normal attack (Kara Throw)

Roll-CANCEL-Special= a special that gains invincibility from the rolls porperties (Kara Roll)

This structure in NO way shape or form occurs with tick throwing!!!

The only thing remotely similar to these Kara techs in the SF2 days was the CPS1 glitch!

You use tick throwing similar to how you use Kara throwing.. Moreso that RCing.. Sure both RCing and Kara throwing have a similar process and execution, but both are used for different reasons.. You use tick throwing and Kara throwing for similar situations moreso than roll canceling and kara throwing.. WHat purpose would you have to use RCing in a mixup or the middle of a combo if you already have them in said combo or blocking? RC or not they will still be hit or blocking it so it serves no purpose.. With Kara throwing or Tick THrowing the end result is similar in said situation, you get a free throw causing a wake up situation for the opponent..

Somehow I think Cantrellio is just going to give up on snk fighters.

In a nutshell, yes, you can use SNK tactics (spammed normal attacks, low jumps, rolling, throwing) fairly well in CVS2.

And don't get pissed at people who randomly shout "it's cheap!" -- just refer them to the technical details argued about in this thread. 8)

My last two bits, most playing styles and techniques have had several special names over time, but knowing the behavior of every character's normal and special attacks is never a bad thing. It gives you a better idea of how to attack and defend, and lets you gauge if a player is using a character to its fullest potential.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Interesting thread to skim through. Picked up a few things here & there.
I rarely stay playing same game, or same characters. I like variety. But I'm always catching myself going between KOF-SF, or the other related titles & trying to play as I was in previous game I played, but have to get used to the play style all over again.
I got rolls downpat in KOF, but didn't realize jumps were that important.
I really do enjoy KOF in some ways more than SF. But I just need to get combos & such downpat, then I'll be set.
I suck at most fighters & competitive games, but do have fun, when I'm not sucking.

I do recall many, many years ago. My friend was all hardcore into SF, so he'd wipe the mat with my face any time I tried to play. But then I'd throw down some KOF & he'd be the one putting the controller down. Good times.
