The general consensus of collectors is the screen is better. Many people even feel it to be 'brighter', which is a tricky concept considering there's no light in it. But most people who own both will tell you that the the slimline's screen is clearer.Ivo wrote:Thanks NotBlaine for the clarification. I'll need to check mine to which one it is. It's rather easy to tell them apart with the font trick, but other than that, how much thinner are they, and what other noteworthy differences they have (the screen is better?)
As far as size differences, it's not a monster difference. The slimline is sleeker with more rounded edges. How much difference there is gos from person to person. The people who own both but still prefer the original feel that the little extra size makes it 'fit better' in their hands.
At the end of the day it seems like most people prefer the slim, some still like the original. So the improvement is there it just might not be mind blowing.
The collection that guy has isn't bad. I question him referring to Dynamite Slugger as 'rare', but that collection is probably worth what he's asking.
You can have a look at some rough values with this price guide. Although it's really only good as a guide. Also you might find the layout a little strange, some neo-geo fans tend to organize games by release date /catalog number. Much like a periodic table of elements, they sometimes think it can shed light on unreleased games / prototypes. So you'll find that some games (like Cotton) have two different numbers between the US and Japan, so they're two different entries.
