I think Id has all but abandoned anything that isn't a gory tech demo.dsheinem wrote:Why do they reboot shit games like X-com and Deus Ex, but we haven't seen a new Rise of the Triad, Commander Keen, or Homeworld game in years?

id has gone from being one of the top three PC-centric developers to being just another random company.dsheinem wrote:they abandoned the PC, too.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I think Id has all but abandoned anything that isn't a gory tech demo.dsheinem wrote:Why do they reboot shit games like X-com and Deus Ex, but we haven't seen a new Rise of the Triad, Commander Keen, or Homeworld game in years?

iD sold out in 2009. Can't expect innovation from them now that they are a subsidiary.

I don't think anyone's expected innovation since Doom 3 was not what people wanted.Hatta wrote:iD sold out in 2009. Can't expect innovation from them now that they are a subsidiary.

Come to think of it, you're right. That was the last time I ever expected the world of iD.MrPopo wrote:I don't think anyone's expected innovation since Doom 3 was not what people wanted.Hatta wrote:iD sold out in 2009. Can't expect innovation from them now that they are a subsidiary.

So far the game looks like what it should be, whichis great. Sure, the art direction is kind of bland and the palette is kind of garish but I can overlook those.

To be fair, the original X-Com didn't have much in the way of nice art either. It's only defining characteristic was the b-movie style aliens, which they appear to be keeping in tact for this one.Not_a_sockpuppet wrote:So far the game looks like what it should be, whichis great.
